It’s been kicking around Insta for a while, but there’s a reason this week’s must-try dish is a viral sensation.
All you have to do is order the bag of seafood from Sydney’s Kickin’ Inn and you’ll know exactly what we’re talking about.
Is that the full name?
Nope, it’s “Mixed bag” on the menu.
Where do you get it?
Kickin’ Inn, East Village, 4 Defries Avenue, Zetland NSW 2017 (though there are locations all over Sydney, plus others in Melbourne, Brisbane and Canberra).
Why is it a winner?
Do you fancy eating a trawler full of seafood covered in a rich spicy sauce right off your table top? That’s what you’ll get at the Kickin’ Inn. A big bag of seafood, including prawns, mussels, pippies, and every other shellfish you can think of gets doused in a sauce of your choosing, with a heat level of your choosing, with sides of your choice – we love the potatoes and corn. It’s then cooked together and dumped in front of you and your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to get stuck in. Sure, you get a bib, but if you don’t get messy, you’re not doing it right! Reminiscent of the seafood boils of the American south, this is a seriously fun way to eat. So, if you haven’t done it yet, unleash your inner mermaid and get fishy with it!
