Sydney’s must-try dish this week is light, airy and extremely delicious.

It’s the New York style cheesecake made by Lorraine Godsmark, the woman behind Lorraine’s Patisserie, who can rightly claim to be Sydney pastry royalty.

Is that the full name?

Yup, it’s just “Cheesecake” on the menu.

Where do you get it?

Lorraine’s Patisserie, 320 George Street, Sydney NSW 2000

Why is it a winner?

Can a cheesecake make someone fall in love with you? We have it on good authority that Lorraine Godsmark’s light as air cheesecake has a starring role in one romance we know of, and we can’t say we’re surprised. While the date tart Lorraine developed with Neil Perry when she was pastry chef at Rockpool has long pulled most of the attention, it’s the cheesecake that we can’t get enough of. Rich and buttery, yet soft, with a lemon tang and cloud-like texture, the question shouldn’t be whether a cheesecake can make you fall in love, but rather how could this particular cheesecake not?

Anything else to know?

You’ll have to be quick to get a slice of one of these babies, as they are made in limited numbers and when they’re sold out, that’s it. Sometimes this happens as early as 12pm, so don’t mess around and get to it!
