Shish, a new Turkish-style restaurant, has opened its doors in Newington, Edinburgh’s southside of the City, bringing authentic Turkish flavours and feasting to Scotland’s culinary capital.

Shish’s ethos draws on heritage and tradition, resulting in a desire to create a welcoming, family-friendly environment. This is centred around the fire hearth, where cooking and loved ones come together and share the moment.
Entering the spacious restaurant, diners will be amazed by the decor. Its slick interior, ambient lighting and plush velvet seating provides the perfect setting for any occasion.

At the helm in the kitchen, the passionate team of chefs have created an inspired menu underpinned by true authenticity and rich taste. Highlights include Karisik Izgara – a traditional mixed grill platter with chargrilled lamb and chicken, lamb ribs, chicken thigh, succulent meatballs and adana kebab; Tire Kofte – skewered tomato infused kofte served with buttery tomato sauce and garlic yoghurt; Kafes – juicy whole rack of lamb, carved and served at your table; Levrek– grilled marinated seabass served with olives, capers and asparagus; and Kusbasili Pidi – Turkish style flatbread topped with cubes of beef, capsicums and tomato.

Shish doesn’t have an alcohol license, but instead offers an interesting and diverse non-alcoholic drinks range. There’s a wide-ranging selection of refreshing house-made mocktails such as Sweet Dream – pineapple juice, passion fruit puree, coconut syrup, grenadine, double cream; Fizzy Crush – fresh berries, grenadine, sugar syrup, lime juice, topped with lemonade; and My Heaven – mango juice, passion purée, elderflower cordial, sugar syrup and lime juice.

Open for lunch and dinner, seven days a week, from 12pm til 11pm, Shish provides the perfect place for family gatherings and friendly encounters as well as somewhere for those short on time looking to have a break away from the daily grind and general hustle and bustle.
