The Matakana Food and Beer Festival will be making its debut in February. If you consider yourself a die-hard foodie, love a good beer with the boys, or live for an epic festie – you will not want to miss out on this event.

Prepare for an action-packed day filled with craft beer, delicious food and outstanding entertainment. Matakana Food and Beer Festival will be setting up shop in the glorious Matakana Country Park; the 50-acre estate is located an hour north of Auckland and has hosted countless festivals and events.

The epic scenery of rolling hills and endless vineyards is the perfect spot to enjoy a long, lazy summer day with a cold beer in hand. The festival will be taking place on Saturday 26th February 2022; doors are open from 2pm – 9pm.

This festival is an excellent opportunity for Kiwis to lose themselves in the beautiful surroundings of Matakana and to indulge in hearty Northland food, beer and entertainment. Matakana Food and Beer Festival, is founded by Hidden Valley Festival’s Reuben Rivers-Smith (Director) and Billy Vasdev (Head of Bar Operations).

For entertainment, there will be a strong line-up of New Zealand’s most talented DJ’s. Recreating the golden days of the New Zealand dance scene is Nice ‘n’ Urlich; their soulful house music incites serious nostalgia.

Next up, we have Bavhu, well-known for their smooth grooves and contrasting hard-hitting club sets, which are sure to have you dancing the afternoon away. Finally, we have Nyntee and Nigel Love, who will be bringing pure vibes and a versatile set to the stage.

Calling every hophead, beerologist and ale addict. This festival will host 12 of the biggest names in local and domestic brewing. A few familiar favourites include Good George Brewing, Garage Project, Fortune Favours Beer, Sawmill Brewery and Citizen. Experience a range of flavours, styles and influences with each cold pint.

Whether you lean towards a traditional lager, the powerful hops of a pale ale or the tropical flavours of a pilsner, there is a beer for every palette. Discover unforgettable drafts like Liberty Brewing Co. Hop dip, a hopped-up hazy IPA that packs a punch; with both its flavour and high alcohol percentage.

The Food Truck Collective will be showcasing the best of the best by bringing together a selection of Auckland food trucks. These food trucks raise the bar for delicious and vibrant street food, hosting an incredible range of cuisines from Italy, Israel, Britain, Asia, America and more.

The list of food trucks attending Matakana Food and Beer Festival are yet to be announced. However, we hope to indulge in Akemi’s Gyoza, their traditional Japanese dumplings are a crowd favourite. As well as satisfying our hunger with a classic Brooklyn Dog inspired by the streets of New York. Or, if we’re lucky, grab one of Grownup Donuts; the creamy, sugar-coated doughnuts are out of this world.
