With days beginning to lengthen and warm weather on the horizon, you’ll find yourself in the mood for summer-style dishes. Lemon, chilli, garlic, and peppers are some of the ingredients that come to mind among silky cuts of meat. At Keshk Café, the team will bring you the best of North African and Mediterranean cuisine, with a brilliant price point in a pleasant setting.
Warm settings
The atmosphere at Keshk is quite special, reminding customers of warm climates with its orange-hue lights beaming over red and yellow drapery, which adorns the windows. Coming here on a rainy Dublin day (which comes by quite often) is the ultimate escape. It feels as if you’ve been whisked away into an eloquent diner in Egypt or a traditional tapas spot much like those in southern Spain.
Mediterranean delights
Keshk offers dishes that are based on long-standing recipes that originate from across southern and eastern Europe as well as North Africa. We want to highlight both the lunch and dinner offerings, which provide customers with excellent small plates and high quality meals.
The falafels served in Keshk are brilliantly unique in Dublin because they’re as traditional as you can find them. They’re a great way to kick off a lunchtime meal at €6.90 and feature secret spices that Keshk have sourced from southern Europe. If you’re on the go for the day and need a quick filler, the ciabattas served at Keshk are outstanding. Grab a goat’s cheese ciabatta, featuring a special marinade of herbs and sun-dried tomatoes.
Keshk offers some fantastic veggie options for lunch too, with the moussaka being a star. It’s a Greek oven baked dish featuring layers of potato and aubergine, separated by tomato and garlic, topped off with a delicate bechamel sauce for €14.50.
Dinner at Keshk is truly special with plenty of delicacies to avail of. Keshk is a great place for a date, especially with the starter plate for two at €22.95, featuring prawns, falafel, and dolma among other starter dishes.
For mains, we really can’t understate how excellent the charcoaled kafta is. Keshk hosts a charcoal grill that brings out beautiful colours and flavours in lamb and beef; the kafta is a minced lamb with onions, fresh parsley and a mix of seven Mediterranean spices. Served with either potatoes or basmati rice for €20.95, you can’t go wrong. If you’re looking for something even more authentic, the shishtaouk for €19.95 is a great choice, featuring chicken cubes, marinated in a Mediterranean yoghurt sauce and charcoal grilled on skewers.
BYOB
With many traditional cuisines of North Africa and the Med being teetotal, Keshk doesn’t offer alcohol on its menu. However, there’s no need to fret. Keshk allow all customers a BYOB option for wine and beer, with absolutely no corkage fee or extra charges. We’d recommend picking up a bottle of Coyam Emiliano to pair with the kafta, or a bottle of Asian beer to go alongside the delicious starters. Enjoy!
