Best places for burgers in Liverpool
Calling all burger lovers! If you are local to Liverpool and craving a burger – meaty or vegan – you’re in luck, as there are an unlimited number of Liverpool burger joints to choose from. The only problem is trying to narrow down your choice, as they all taste so good… or you could just try them all! To help you out, we’ve rounded up some of the best burger joints that you definitely should not miss out on.
Free State Kitchen is known for its classic American dishes with a modern twist, especially when it comes to the selection of burgers or handhelds as they are known at FSK. You can choose from the classic American cheeseburger with American cheese, fresh onion, ketchup and mustard, or go wild and try the diner’s favourite – the double French onion burger, which is packed with garlic butter, caramelised onion, Dijon mustard and Swiss cheese.
FSK also offers a range of veggie and vegan burgers, including the garden burger and the vegan market burger, which has delicious-tasting vegan cheese. You can also opt for a gluten free bun. All of the burgers come with rosemary salted fries, and you can add on an extra burger patty, fried chicken or bacon if you are feeling extra hungry.
At Ten Streets Social, you will find great food, drinks, music and a community feel. This is more than a restaurant or bar, it’s a social, where people of Liverpool can come and enjoy delicious comfort food like a whopping great big burger and crafty beers. It’s a small, family-run business located opposite the Baltic Market, where the staff are friendly and knowledgeable, showcasing the best Liverpool has to offer including unique cocktails and locally sourced meats for the burger patties.
We’ve included Red Dog Saloon in our guide because the delicious BBQ, hickory, smokey and generally delicious burgers are messy, delicious and massive! The huge range of burgers include pulled pork, brisket and fried chicken plus all the extras you can imagine! You name it, Red Dog Saloon has probably cooked it in its fire pit and thrown it in a burger bun! We cannot recommend this place enough. It also serves great whiskies and cocktails for good measure.
Macello Meat House has gotten so popular it now has two venues – one in the south of Liverpool in Childwall and one in the north in West Derby Village. Macello Meat House first opened in Childwall in 2017 and it quickly became known for its delicious steaks and mouthwatering burgers. On the menu, you’ll find the mighty 400g Tower Beef Burger or our favourite, the Slow Cooked Ribs burger, cooked for over 12 hours to lock in the juices and all of the flavour!
Marco’s is a place where guests feel welcome and relaxed, to unwind and enjoy great food. The menu is exclusively curated by Marco himself. To suit all tastes, it typically includes a mix of childhood favourites such as the classic beef burger. Made with locally sourced ingredients, this is a top-quality burger if you’re looking for an extra special place to dine.
Bavette Steakhouse not only serves amazing steaks and grilled meats, but juicy burgers too! Using the finest, tastiest meat and the most tender chicken, Bavette serves a wide range of burgers to suit everyone’s taste! We highly recommend the Asado Burger, which is slow cooked beef ribs with BBQ sauce and caramelised onions. We also love the special Bavette Special Burger, which is 175g of pure flank steak served with crispy onions, cheese and pickles. You’ll find a veggie option with halloumi and grilled vegetables too, which is just as juicy and delicious as the meat options!
