The Molson Coors Scottish Bar of the Year prize was highly contested, however Glasgow’s very own Kelvingrove Cafe landed the much-sought after title.

Known for its welcoming atmosphere and carefully crafted cocktails, Finnieston’s Kelvingrove Cafe first opened its doors in 1896 and was once an ice cream parlour and a favourite lunch spot for visitors to the then recently finished Kelvingrove Park.

After being closed due to Covid-19 lockdowns, the bar reopened in September 2020. It had a significant and spectacular transformation, with the extension of the ground floor and the addition of a new 240 square-foot dining room.

The KC team shared a video of them collecting their trophy on stage, prompting congratulations from their customers. One wrote, ‘well deserved’ while another added, ‘big congrats, that’s lovely news’.

Organiser Susan Young said: “It’s been another incredible year for the annual Scottish Bar and Pub Awards as we’ve recognised some of the most creative, hard-working and beloved venues in the country. Following a difficult few years for the licensed trade, it’s fantastic to see so many venues dedicate their time to staff training, inventive menus and new initiatives.

“From Inverness to Dundee, Troon to Uddingston, this year’s winners have gone above and beyond to provide exemplary customer service, create new cocktails or champion their local live music scene.”
