Famous for its rude staff and bad service, Karen’s Diner has revealed plans to expand further across the UK and into Ireland with sights set on Dublin.

The restaurant’s concept is based on the viral ‘Karen’ internet meme, which pokes fun at antagonistic woman who are usually heard asking to ‘speak to the manager’. The group was launched in Sydney in 2021 by Viral Ventures Global, which is a themed pop events business. It’s been such a huge success there are now nine restaurants across Australia.

There are currently two Karen’s Diner restaurants in the UK in Sheffield and Manchester. Another one is scheduled to open in Birmingham’s Grand Central shopping centre on 1st September.

Karen’s Diner bosses are now looking at locations in London and Dublin. A visit to Karen’s Diner is not for the faint hearted as staff are intentionally rude to customers as soon as they walk through the door, abusing them with insults and rolling their eyes at any requests or questions.

The restaurant group describes itself as an “interactive diner and an absurdly fun experience”. Waiters do expect it back from you in return with everyone in the scenario turning into a “Karen”.

“Rude service and great burgers” is the Karen’s Diner motto, and that’s exactly what you can expect.

Items on the menu include burgers, chicken tenders, fries and hotdogs. The eatery also serves cocktails as well milkshakes.
