Spotlight on Ting Thai

With its origins as a small festival street food pop-up, the Ting Thai phenomenon now has four restaurants in Scotland, spreading to two separate locations in Glasgow. And we wouldn’t be surprised to see more further down the line. You’ll find one Ting Thai on West Nile Street,  and the other Ting Thai on Byres Road, catering to city and West End clientele. From good vibes to some of the best street food in the whole of Glasgow, we explore what makes Ting Thai the most popular place in the city for Southeast Asian goodness.

West Nile Street

The West Nile Street location offers a funky style, with paired back industrial-chic decor reflecting the age and former purpose of the buildings that Ting Thai inhabits; think long tables and benches for optimum socialising and eating, accented by a slightly hypnotic feature screen featuring a glitching poodle!

Here you can enjoy a quick and filling feed at this award-winning eatery. Its name gives a clue as to the primary type of cuisine cooked up in the great value establishment, but you’ll also find elements of Scotland and other nations hidden in the recipes. The design at both venues is simple, minimal and unpretentious, with an industrial street food market vibe that’s sociable and hip.

Byres Road

Ting Thai offers authentic Thai and Asian fusion street food in a vibrant, bright dining space. The location on Byres Road has a menu boasting small boxes and soup bowls, alongside rice, noodle and curry dishes.

We particularly love the Khao Min Gai Tod – shallow fried chicken, with ginger, garlic, grated coconut, cucumber and shallot ajard, two brothers sauce, and jasmine rice.

However, there’s one dish that stands out miles ahead from the rest at Ting Thai, even smashing international records!

Drumroll for the most popular order…

Having recently been awarded ‘Scotland’s Best Thai’, the independent restaurant group has proven itself as the most popular meeting place for young and old, from the adventurous to those who won’t venture beyond the trusty chicken wing.

Ting Thai’s Pad Thai has broken all records as the top trending noodle dish internationally, with a recent secret blind taste test seeing a whopping 90% preference for Ting Thai!

Ting Thai’s dedicated vegan menu also boasts eight mains to choose from, including the globally acclaimed vegan Pad Thai, which has been recognised as a favourite order.

Affordability all round

Ting Thai believes that deliciousness shouldn’t come at a premium. Here you can enjoy budget-friendly lunch offerings, with mains priced under £8. At dinner, you’ll find mains priced at a reasonable £10.80.

The incredible cocktails at Byres Road are created by in-house mixologist Adam O’Neill, ranging from the Phuket Bucket to the Go Go Star Martini. Cocktails start from just £5 on Sun-Wed each week – and trust us, they’re not to be missed!
