Where to go for gluten free dishes in the Ireland
With so many restaurants in Ireland now extending their menus to cater for vegetarian, vegan, dairy free, gluten free diets and more, the problem now for many is where to go! If you’re following a gluten free diet and want to know where to eat out next in Ireland, then this guide is for you. Here are some of the top restaurants in Ireland for gluten free diners.
At Earth & Vine, the philosophy for the team is simple. They want their dishes to be the best expression of the wonderful ingredients that they can find right here on this island. They’ve forged great relationships with some of Ireland’s best artisan producers. From right on their doorstep in North Dublin, to the rich arable fields of Wicklow and Wexford, only the finest fresh produce is chosen. They then take these traditional ingredients and cook them in a contemporary style, letting their true flavours shine through, bringing you a truly Irish artisan food experience.
The Townhouse Restaurant is one of the best restaurants in Dundalk town centre, offering modern Irish-Italian cuisine for lunch and dinner Tuesday to Sunday. The intimate Georgian townhouse dining room retains many period features making for a very unique setting. Head Chef John Kenwright’s celebrated and award-winning cooking focuses on the very freshest seasonal Irish produce, with some mouthwatering gluten free options available.
The East Room Restaurant combines local foraging, artisan ingredients, and house-grown produce across exceptional seasonal menus. In spring, for example, you could find locally sourced ingredients such as wild garlic, white asparagus and early forced rhubarb while they are in their short abundance, along with spring lamb and suckling pork. This is arguably the best restaurant in Limerick, and with good reason.
Saba is a Thai and Vietnamese eatery on Upper Baggot Street, in Dublin 4. Saba, which means “happy meeting place” in Thai, serves authentic cuisine at reasonable prices. Open seven days a week from 12pm until late, gluten free dishes are highlighted on the impressive menu. Our favourites include Satay Gai (grilled chicken skewers with a peanut sauce), Gingergrass Salad (with Thai herbs, ginger, lemongrass, lime, shallots, kaffir lime leaf, mint, cashew nuts, birds eye chilli and chilli paste in an oil lime dressing), and Prawn Pomelo Mieng Kam (steamed tiger prawns with shredded roasted coconut, ginger, shallots, lime, and birds eye chillis with tamarind shrimp paste and a palm sugar sauce).
The Independent Pizza Company opened in the summer of 1984 and 2023 marks 39 years trading in Drumcondra. This is an Irish owned business, and all ingredients are brought in fresh and prepared in the in-house kitchens. Using Irish suppliers wherever possible, the pepperoni is produced in Dundalk, the mozzarella is from Bandon in Cork, and the Irish chicken is supplied by Kelly Brothers Butchers in Crumlin who have supplied the business since day one! The pizza style is American; light crisp bases with both traditional and contemporary topping combinations. There’s also several non-pizza options including chicken wings, main course salads, the team’s own lasagna, roasted Irish half-chicken and more.
