2023 food trends
Here at Dish Cult we’ve been speaking to experts in the field, from restaurant owners to leading chefs, and asked them what we can expect as food trends for 2023. There were four trends that really stood out: Sustainability, plant-based menus, locally sourced ingredients and seasonal dishes.
Rather than leaving it there though, we’ve gone one step further and rounded up the best restaurants around Ireland that have got their fingers on the pulses and are already incorporating some or all of these trends in their venues. So, here’s our guide to 2023’s food trends and where to eat them in Ireland.
Thyme was opened in November 2007 by John Coffey and his wife Tara with the idea of showcasing the fabulous producers the midlands region of Ireland has to offer, in a relaxed and comfortable setting. Thyme has gone from strength to strength over the years, including winning numerous prestigious accolades such as being awarded a Michelin Bib Gourmand and winning Best Restaurant in Westmeath and Leinster at the Irish Restaurant Awards. The food is best described as modern Irish and is based on the seasons, so menus change accordingly.
Mae is a new neighbourhood restaurant in the heart of Ballsbridge Village with a focus on seasonal food and interesting wines. It’s attracted a lot of hype and positive reviews this year, so we’re predicting big things for the supremely talented chef Grainne O’Keefe and her restaurant. Definitely not one to miss in 2023 – get your table booked now!
