Tantrum Doughnuts
cuisinesDoughnuts

No doughnut guide is complete without reference to Tantrum Doughnuts. The company, opened in 2015, set out to offer an alternative to mass-produced doughnuts, filled to the brim with artificial colourings and flavourings. Everything in the bakery is made by hand – including the buttery brioche dough, the glazings and the fillings. The focus here is on fresh, local produce and, as such, the products are of extremely high quality. There are three types of doughnuts on the menu – the signature fluffy brioche variety, the more cakey ‘old fashioned’ doughnuts, and the vegan rings. The flavours range from the cutting edge (like the pistachio and hibiscus ring) to more familiar numbers (like the raspberry jam brioche). Prices are exceptionally reasonable for such great products, too. If you’re into doughnuts, Tantrum should be your first port of call!

We’ve yet to hear of a Glaswegian who doesn’t totally adore Eusebi’s. Authentic as they come, this Italian eatery never fails to please. On entry you’ll be greeted with rows upon rows of delectable baked goods: it will be tough to only pick up one doughnut! The Nutella option is pretty spectacular, but we love the famous Bombolini – a special Italian doughnut that’s both light and indulgent. Eusebi fills its Bombolini with pistachio pastry cream and we promise it’s not one to miss.

Kaf Coffee
cuisinesCoffee Shop, Bakery

Kaf Coffee serves up some of the city’s classiest doughnuts. This tiny bakery is a reasonably new addition to the city, but since its opening it has done remarkably well for itself. Alongside some of the city’s finest sandwiches, you’ll find baked goods aplenty: like the Basque Cheesecake, Salted Caramel Brownie and Hazelnut and Peach Financiers. If it’s doughnuts you’re after though, we promise Kaf won’t disappoint. Each week there’s a new special (among the more recent offerings being a delectable Caramelised White Chocolate Custard number). At Christmas you’ll find seasonal specials (think gingerbread, eggnog and orange Amaretto) and throughout the summer, seasonal fruits make their way into these delicious brioche treats.

Nic’s NYC Deli
cuisinesDeli, American

There’s nothing subtle about Nic’s NYC Deli – but we’re not complaining. There’s an abundance of options to choose from: American-influenced toppings like Oreo, Kinder, marshmallow and Reece’s dominate the menu, but if you’re after something a bit more paired back, classics like jam and custard are available, too. Prices are affordable and the staff are super friendly. The coffee here is great too, so if you fancy a mid-afternoon treat, Nic’s is the perfect place to sit back and relax.

This small bakery is somewhat of a hidden gem. Located in trendy Partick, the doughnut options here are magnificent, and you can always guarantee service with a smile. Prices are extremely reasonable, considering that each doughnut is made by hand, and the quality of the produce is top-notch. We like the famous Baked Cheesecake flavoured doughnut, which manages to tread the line between decadent and stodgy miraculously well.
