Reign at the QVB

Gather your girl gang and make like a queen at Reign at the QVB. Here you can sip Champagne, partake in high cheese, nibble on dainty snacks or get a little bit tipsy at bottomless brunch.

There is a cocktail selection to die for, including the classics as well as signature drinks like the crazy-sounding Cereal killer with Disaronno Amaretto, gin, Campari, passionfruit and Fruit Loops (yes, you read that right), and the Flight club which contains Buffalo Trace Bourbon, Aperol, raspberry, lemon and maple.

Surrounded by marble surfaces and stunning chandeliers, there is no way you and your girls won’t feel like royalty here.

Dish Cult’s top pick: Donuts, honey, yoghurt, cinnamon, star anise and pistachio ($16)

Untied Rooftop Bar
cuisinesBar, Brunch

Golden hour has never looked better than at this high flying Barangaroo rooftop oasis. Untied carved a name for itself with a stellar line-up of live music, tropical cocktails and contemporary plates.

The icing on this sweet, sweet cake is the self-service froze bar where you can pour yourself a range of fruity flavoured frose and make all your boozy slushie dreams come true. There’s even a garnish wall where you and your girls can have a laugh pimping out your creations with sour worms, rainbow straps and berries.

Food-wise, the plates here feature Australian-style fusions like buttermilk popcorn chicken with tom yum mayo and laksa-style mussels.

Dish Cult’s top pick: Buttermilk popcorn chicken ($17)

WyNo x Bodega
cuisinesLatin American
Wyno Bodega Sydney Restaurants

WyNo x Bodega is a perpetually busy spot that features the best of both worlds, the famous tapas plates from former Surry Hills stalwart Bodega, and the excellent wines from wine bar and bottle shop WyNo.

The menu here rotates regularly, and you and your girls can turn up expecting great snacking on generously portioned tapas like the grilled mushrooms with confit garlic and fried egg, ricotta dumplings with chives and brown butter, and “fish fingers’, which is not what your mum used to make you on Friday nights but rather sashimi kingfish on charred garlic toast with cuttlefish ceviche, lime and mojama.

Save room for dessert because the Basque cheesecake is exceptional, and pair with something delicious from the wine list. It all adds up to pure bliss and a fun, elegant night out for you and the girls.

Dish Cult’s top pick: “Fish fingers” ($20)

Alberto’s Lounge
cuisinesItalian
albertos lounge

Home to some of the best Italian food Sydney has to offer, Alberto’s is a buzzy space that’s perfect when you want to grab an amazing pasta and make a night of it with the girls. That there are signature cocktails on offer and an extensive wine list only sweetens the deal.

Alberto’s takes a page from the “Italian, but make it fun” book and succeeds in spades. There’s gelato and ricotta made daily and house made pasta for your gang to fawn over. On the menu, you’ll find the likes of strozzapreti amatriciana, burrata with quince and hazelnuts, and grilled quail with polenta and grapes. Each dish will have your group chef’s kissing the air and you can forget sharing the desserts – everyone will want their own.

Dish Cult’s top pick: Strozzapreti amatriciana – pasta with guanciale, chilli, tomato and pecorino

Maybe Sammy
cuisinesCocktails, Bar
maybe sammy Sydney cocktail bar

Maybe Sammy is old-school cool, with a bold and loud vibe that’s a mix of swinging European bars and retro-hip Las Vegas hideouts. It’s no wonder that this bar, named after the late great Sammy Davis Jr, was the winner of the Best Bar in Australasia Award for 2021.

Head here for a cocktail list with drinks named after iconic Vegas hotels, and a “Mini Martini Hour” with downsized versions of the signature cocktails, so that you and the girls can get a little taste of everything.

To keep the drinks flowing, there are charcuterie platters with prosciutto and salami to share and a truffle pecorino cheese toastie to devour in one go. Whatever you do, try the truffle toastie!

Dish Cult’s top pick: Kir royale – Champagne Taittinger and Pierre Chermette Cassis ($13)

Fred’s

Enjoy dishes including grilled rack of Margra lamb with artichokes and warm tapenade, steamed coral trout, and Sydney Rock oysters.  Pair with a signature cocktail and finish with a spelt and pear tarte tatin with bay leaf ice cream.
