Monadh Kitchen is a cosy neighbourhood restaurant that specialises in locally sourced, modern Scottish cuisine. If you are looking to indulge in delicious Scottish produce with faultless service, then take a trip to Monadh Kitchen.
Monadh Kitchen can be found nestled in the leafy suburb of Bearsden where it has acquired a loyal fanbase both locally and throughout Glasgow. Behind this successful restaurant is a husband-and-wife duo who have even achieved a Michelin recommendation for its value and quality. With over 16 years in the industry Martin has an impressive amount of experience being a chef in many restaurants including working for a portfolio of Scotland’s top hotels such as Hotel Du Vin at One Devonshire Gardens, Cameron House, and as executive chef at Blytheswood Square Hotel.
Armed with this experience he and his wife opened Monadh Kitchen in 2017 curating a successful restaurant that specialises in local Scottish cuisine with a contemporary twist that has diners returning for more.
If you are planning a visit to Monadh Kitchen, then you can expect a lunch and evening menu. The restaurant is open from Tuesday to Saturday with the lunch menu running from midday to 2pm and dinner being served between 5 and 8pm. The ‘Lunch at Monadh Kitchen’ menu offers two courses for £22 or three courses for £26.
The beginning of a lunch at Monadh starts with a pre-starter, a touch that is unique to the restaurant and free with a main meal. The pre-starter consists of homemade bread locally baked at the Honeybee Bakery and a special foamy soup that changes based on the seasons.
The lunch starter has offerings such as Confit Shetland Mackerel Rillette and Lemon Thyme Marinated Courgette and British Asparagus. Moving onto mains you can expect poached free range chicken breast with spinach, mashed potato, red wine, and Scottish asparagus. Another option is crispy fried Scottish asparagus served with Jersey potatoes, pesto, tomato, red sauce, and hen of the wood mushrooms.
If you have room for dessert, you should try the Tipsy Laird Trifle, which is a crème brûlée, lemon sponge cake, raspberries, raspberry gel, Drambuie cream, almonds and raspberry tuille.
The a la carte menu is available with dinner and features the iconic pre-starter. Starters include marinated heirloom tomatoes, crispy beef, and a personal recommendation from the chef, Monadh Haggis which features creamed potatoes, pickled salt baked turnip and red wine sauce.
Moving onto mains, favourites include dry aged Aberdeen Angus beef fillet served with triple cooked chips, tomato jam, crispy shallot rings and choice of sauce.
For dessert, choose from a refreshing vanilla cheesecake with free dried raspberries, hazelnut and orange crumble, sauternes, poached rhubarb, and rhubarb sorbet. A firm favourite on the menu, however, is the sticky toffee pudding drenched with caramel sauce, hazelnut biscuit and topped with vanilla ice cream. For those who prefer to finish their meal with a savoury option, the selection of Scottish cheeses with fig chutney, sourdough crackers and oatcakes is the perfect way to finish the meal.
Monadh Kitchen recognise that you may be accompanied on your visit with small diners and have cultivated a ‘Kids Favourites’ children’s menu. Kids’ starters include garlic bread, mozzarella sticks or cream of tomato soup. Small diners can enjoy mains of spaghetti Bolognese, fish and chips or breaded chicken goujons served with fries and tomato sauce. Children can enjoy finishing off their meal with sticky toffee pudding drizzled with caramel sauce, hazelnut biscuit and vanilla ice cream or ice cream.
