The Lambing Shed voted best in UK

The Lambing Shed serves delicious cooked breakfasts and sells local gin, cheese, ice cream and more. Now the local farm shop café is nationally recognised after being named ‘best in UK’.

A family-run farm shop and café based just under an hour from Liverpool has been named the best in the UK.

The Lambing Shed at Moseley Hall Farm is run by Sue and Michael Mitchell. Their son Rob helps on the farming side of things while their daughter Kathryn is the director of the farm shop and cafe.

The Mitchell family opened its doors six years ago with a desire to champion local produce and showcase the farm’s home-reared beef and lamb. Now they have been crowned the UK’s Best Farm Café/Restaurant at the prestigious Farm Retail Association awards.

Inside The Lambing Shed, expect to find tasty homemade cakes, deliciously cooked breakfasts, hand-reared beef and lamb burgers and plenty more. Outside, meanwhile, there’s a play area with mini tractors for kids to have fun on. Still a working farm, just off Chelford Road on the outskirts of Knutsford, families are invited along during spring time to attend its popular ‘lambing weekends’.

The café serves breakfast and lunch daily, but doesn’t take bookings. It has a large indoor area, conservatory section and outdoor seating next to the children’s play area. There’s also a farm shop with products from more than 75 local suppliers, including local preserves, cakes, cheese, Cheshire gins, butchers and ice cream.
