If you love a good steak and still haven’t paid a visit to Liverpool’s Macello Meathouse – what are you waiting for? Macello’s is arguably the best steakhouse in Liverpool, due to the succulent selection of dry-aged steaks which are sourced from small-scale farms only. This authentic Turkish restaurant now has two branches: the original Macello Meathouse in Childwall and a larger location in West Derby. Both restaurants offer excellent customer service and are also frequented by local stars… What’s not to love?

To share or not to share?
Before sampling the steak, you should try out a few starters. The best way to do this is by ordering a sharing platter. The platters are recommended for two people, but if you are feeling extra hungry you can always have a platter all to yourself. If you want to try a bit of everything, you should go for the mix platter, which comes with kufteh tabrizi (cheesy meatballs in a delicious homemade sauce), ayuthaya prawns (spicy but beautiful) and the New Dehli chicken.
If you want to try Macello’s seafood selection, you should opt for the seafood platter, which also comes with the ayuthaya prawns, along with grilled octopus and the melt-in-your-mouth crispy calamari. The final option is the signature Macello platter, which includes a small garlic leaf steak, the Portland chicken and of course, everyone’s favourite – the ayuthaya prawns, which are so good they make an appearance on every platter!
The golden steaks
Macello’s menu is peppered with a range of maturing steaks, from marbled ribeye to Japanese wagyu and more.
However, if you are looking for something that is not only delicious but aesthetically-pleasing, you may want to try Macello’s golden fillet, which is a 1kg steak covered in an edible 24 karat gold leaf – inspired by the one and only Salt Bae.
Celebrity central
If you like steak and call yourself a football fanatic, then Macellos is the perfect place for you. Macello’s best customers include the likes of Liverpool FC’s own Bobby Firmino, Mo Salah and Fabinho who get their protein fix from Macello’s delicious grass-fed beef.
Fabhino, especially, is a big fan of Macello’s as he even got them to grill some steaks at his birthday back in 2019!
Room for dessert?
You can’t pay a visit to Macello’s without sampling the dessert menu, regardless of how full you are. Some customer favourites include the lemon cheesecake, which is served with hot strawberry cream. The hot chocolate cake is also a fan favourite, and what makes it even better is that it’s freshly baked using Macello’s secret recipe and it comes with a smothering of vanilla ice cream.
If you prefer coffee over dessert, then you should try one of Macello’s signature coffee liqueurs. If you want a little zest, then you should opt for the Seville, which includes a mixture of the restaurant’s own coffee blend plus an infusion of orange cointreau.
