Edinburgh Chinese restaurant Golden Dragon will reopen months after closure

Having first opened in 1964, customers were left devastated after the Golden Dragon announced its shock closure last year. Now, the family have announced that the restaurant is set to make a sensational return this summer.

Golden Dragon is an authentic Chinese restaurant, specialising in Cantonese cuisine. This iconic Edinburgh restaurant, which closed its doors after five decades of service last year, has recently announced its dramatic comeback.

In September of last year, the family behind the famous city centre eatery – which had served customers on Castle Street for over 57 years – decided to call time on the business, leaving diners shocked and saddened by the news.

In an emotional announcement, the family behind the popular restaurant said: “To all our customers, we thrived on making you all happy and giving you a satisfied tummy. Your smiles and loyalty took us to this day.

“We will forever take away fond memories of our historic time at in the heart of Edinburgh city centre. I hope you share with us happy memories here at Castle Street. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”

Much to the delight of locals, this week Golden Dragon staff announced they will return ‘to make people smile again’.

Confirming the sensational news of the reopening, the team said: “We are excited to announce we have decided to come back to Castle Street and continue what we enjoy doing best… serving food and making people smile. Opening date is not confirmed until we have gathered a team to help us.”

Golden Dragon is now looking for staff, with anyone interested in applying encouraged to email [email protected].
