Who can believe that the October half term has already rolled around? For some (teachers and kids, we’re looking at you) the holidays are probably welcome relief, but for others (read: parents) the break might leave you worrying about how to keep everyone entertained. Fear not! The Dish Cult team has you covered with a bumper October half term guide.
Where better to kick off this guide than with the ultimate crowd-pleaser: pizza! Kids and adults alike will be delighted to chow down on a pie from Ritas. The team promises ‘no fuss, just pizza’, and if that’s not tempting, we’re not sure what is! With a focus on quality Irish ingredients, traditional Neapolitan cooking techniques, and friendly service, Ritas is the perfect spot for all the family. The vibe is relaxed and welcoming, and the prices are reasonable. A must-visit.
There’s no better time to treat yourself than during the holidays! Adults will love the fun soundtrack with music from the 80s, 90s, and 2000s (as well as the superb cocktail menu), while kids will go crazy for the milkshakes and fun neon lights. Everyone will love the food. Unsurprisingly, chicken is the order of the day. From wings and tenders to chicken burgers and wraps, even the fussiest of eaters will be pleased. We love the decadent side dishes (hello garlic mayo, cheese and bacon loaded fries), as well as the flavoursome vegan options, like the buffalo cauliflower florets. The staff are super friendly and the service is swift.
Token is a restaurant, bar, arcade and pinball parlour extraordinaire! If you’re looking for an afternoon or evening of entertainment alongside delicious food and drink, then look no further. This one’s only for the over-18s, so teachers (or any adult deserving a break!), this one’s for you. The food at Token includes high-end takes on classic dishes. From vegan chicken nuggets and vegan Big Macs to poshed-up mozzarella sticks served with tomato relish, everything is cooked to order. Entertainment wise, there’s everything from film nights and karaoke, to drag shows and pinball competitions.
Farmer Browns is a family-style pub offering up hearty lunches, delicious dinners, great wine, artisan coffee, and more! It’s child-friendly and there is plenty of space for pushchairs and prams. Alongside traditional bites like fish and chips, pork ribs and roast dinners, are more unusual plates like Dublin prawns pil pil, Mexican chicken salad, and crispy cauliflower wings. Everyone will enjoy the desserts – not least the death by chocolate cake, served with fudge sauce – and there are great cocktails on offer, too. For big parties and family gatherings, look no further!
BuJo is a neighbourhood burger joint where the grass-fed, chargrilled burgers are cooked fresh to order and taste sensational! It’s the only burger restaurant in Ireland and the UK to hold a three star rating from the Sustainable Restaurant Association! From distinctively grown-up options like the Chargrilled Korean BBQ burger (complete with white miso mayo and molten Edam cheese), alongside the BuJo Kiddo Box for under 10s (which consists of a main course, fries, and smoothie) there’s something for everyone. A perfect family spot!
