Let’s dive into Liverpool’s sweet side and uncover all the chocolatey goodness it has to offer. This city is a chocolate lover’s paradise, filled with artisanal chocolatiers and cosy cafés serving up some seriously indulgent treats. Whether you’re a full-on chocoholic or just in the mood for a sugar fix, here are some of the best chocolate hotspots that you can explore in Liverpool.
Haute Dolci is a new addition to Bold Street in Liverpool, treating customers to delicious brunch options and sweet treats. The chocolate fondue is a fan favourite and is great for sharing with friends. The delicious caramelised hazelnut-topped fondue is served with an array of delicious fruit bites including strawberries, mango, banana as well as brownie and flapjack bites.
Chocolate lovers will be in their element at Haute Dolci with other chocolatey delights like the eggsplosion, a chocolate filled with even more chocolate or the San Sebastian cheesecake smothered in the most delicious chocolate sauce.
If you’re a chocoholic who also loves a good authentic Italian pizza, The Quarter is the perfect place. You can enjoy the best pizza in the city followed by a slice of The Quarter’s moreish chocolate fudge cake covered in homemade chocolate ganache.
If you prefer ice cream over cake, you need to try the vegan chocolate and cherry sundae topped with chocolate sauce and cherry chocolate crisp. If you are heading to The Quarter for some lunch and a latte, keep an eye out for any new cake specials, as the Bakers are always whipping up something new.
Botanico is the newest and most popular brunch spot in town. Nestled in Woolton Village, this has become the go-to place for breakfast, pastries and chocolate treats. If you fancy something sweet for brunch, try the pancake stack or homemade french toast with nutella and strawberries. They also have a mini version for kids, so you can take the whole family.
Botanico also serves up an excellent afternoon tea which includes plenty of chocolate, like the chocolate and pistachio tart and the black forest dark chocolate mousse. If you can’t get enough of the Botanico treats, you can head to the bakery and take some freshly made pastries to go.
Another Woolton spot with the best chocolate has to be Coast, a cosy brunch spot just across the road from Botanico. At Coast, you can enjoy breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea. They also have an excellent selection of pastries and cakes, like the nutella croissants and rocky road.
Coast is famous for its special hot chocolate. You can choose from a wide range of flavours, including Terry’s Chocolate Orange, Aero mint, Bueno, toasted marshmallow, caramac and more, which are all topped with everyone’s favourite chocolate.
The Elephant is known for serving up an excellent Sunday lunch, but what you might not know is that they offer some of the best chocolate treats in Liverpool. For breakfast, you should try the choc-berry buttermilk pancakes topped with macerated berries, chantilly cream and chocolate sauce.
Customer favourites include the baked chocolate chip cookie pot smothered in biscoff sauce and the knickerbocker glory with salted caramel ice cream, chocolate brownie, toffee popcorn and whipped cream. If you prefer to drink your chocolate, you should try The Elephant’s homemade or chocolate or if you want something a bit stronger, go for the Baileys latte topped with chocolate sprinkles.
The Book Bar is located in West Derby which is very close to lovely walks around Croxteth Hall and Country Park – the perfect setting to enjoy an indulgent chocolatey treat. They serve amazing warm chocolate fudge cake with rich vanilla ice-cream and a chocolate brownie sundae made with chocolate Ice cream, chunks of chocolate brownie with chocolate sauce and squirty cream – a chocolate lover’s dream!
Tempest likes to keep things fresh, local and seasonal. From its in-house bakery to the bees on the roof producing the honey in its food and cocktails and their own herb-garden, a lot of what Tempest on Tithebarn produces is seasonal and grown on-site. We highly recommend their homemade triple chocolate brownie which can be served hot or cold. They also have cheesecake specials that include chocolate with chocolate sauce which is super indulgent!

Located opposite Liverpool Central Station, Duman has the perfect spot on the bustling Bold Street. Their bright pink branding is hard to miss and their huge selection of cakes in the window is even harder to miss! They have too many varieties of chocolate desserts to list here but some of our favorites include: The Princess Baklava which is filo pastry, pistachios and chocolate, devil’s food cake topped with thick chocolate ganache and oreo cake which is a chocolate sponge fresh cream and white chocolate sauce. There is a large dining area where you can sit in and indulge in the tasty treats or take them away to enjoy later.
