Relax in Mr MacGregor's sunny conservatory

The light airiness of Mr MacGregor’s feels like a breath of fresh air in the city of Glasgow. Their prime spot on the corner of Clarkston Road allows all sunlight to soak the eatery for most of the day. With comfy chairs, plush booths, and large tables, the inside turns into a cheerful bustling spot come Saturday brunch – all adding to the chaotic fun of a weekend rush. Inside is an energetic ambience of good conversation and good vibes being shared over great food.

Better yet, Mr MacGregor’s outdoor spot is one of our favourite places to plonk ourselves down on a summer’s day, with greenery adorning the conservatory and a slight breeze coming in. Find a spongy booth or velvety chair to sip away at and bask in the Scottish sun.

Weekend brunching at MacGregor's

We can’t say no to a brunch. Mr MacGregor’s is know for their weekend and weekday brunch, often with a buzzing atmosphere on a Saturday or Sunday. Only available for a couple of hours a day, you have to get in quick to get your hands on some of their famous brunch dishes.

Our top picks have to be Mr MaGregor’s Breakfast Wrap with haggis, bacon, pork sausages, beans, chorizo, avocado and scrambled egg, the Chilli Eggs with sriracha and chorizo scrambled eggs, potato rosti, halloumi on sourdough, or the Buttermilk Pancakes (because what’s a weekend brunch without a pancake or two?).

Add on all your favourite sides from extra Ayrshire streaky bacon and potato scones to lashings of Nutella, maple syrup and fresh berries. While a coffee or tea is a no brainer, Mr MacGregor’s is also serving up your favourite breakfast cocktails to get your day really started the right way. Mimosas and Bloody Mary’s all round!

The main affair

If you’re coming into Mr MacGregor’s a little later in the day, you’ll be greeted with their a la carte menu, full of a melting pot of cuisines and adventurous new dishes. To start, we always opt for the Roasted red pepper hummus with EVOO and smoked paprika tortillas, Black pudding bon-bons with parsnip purée and peppercorn sauce, Baked camembert with truffle and honey, a feta, watermelon, pomegranate and grilled courgette salad, and Scottish West Coast Mussels with crusty bread. All shared amongst the table so you can enjoy a little taste of everything Mr MacGregor’s has on offer.

Moving into the more substantial plates, make your main selection from the likes of Lemon and ricotta linguine, Slow-cooked pork belly served with parsnip pureé, creamy mash, grilled tender-stem broccoli and red wine jus, Miso and soy glazed cod, and a Flat iron steak frites complete with a suggested whisky pairing.

If you just so happen to be dining in on a Sunday, you’re in luck! Mr MacGregor’s Sunday Roast is a cut above the rest. 2 courses for £20 or 3 for £25, choose between sirloin beef or chicken supreme, both served with their own personalised trimmings. But, if a roast doesn’t take your fancy, you can order up a handmade beef burger, King prawn and chilli linguine, or decadent vegetarian chickpea and butternut squash curry.

We simply can’t leave a hearty meal like this without at least a glance at the dessert menu. You’ll be relieved to know sticky toffee pudding and Bramley apple and cinnamon crumble are both available.

For an all day, relaxed dining experience, Mr MacGregor’s is your go-to for easy dining out for any meal of the week. You’ll find Mr MacGregor’s at 679A Clarkston Road, Glasgow G44 3SE, open seven days at week from 10am. Book your breakfast, brunch, lunch, or dinner table here
