A new pop-up, non-alcoholic bar in Bristol
If you’re doing Dry January and need to see out the final weekend of the month, this ace new pop-up in Bristol will help you celebrate.
If you’ve given up booze for the month, firstly well done you! Secondly, we’ve got a cool new pop-up bar to tell you about in Bristol that will only be serving non-alcoholic drinks.
Future Doughnuts, on Oxford Street in St Philip’s, is going to be doubling up as a bar and is holding its first-ever ‘Sober Social’ night this week, inviting people to join in an evening of booze-free fun.
The pop-up bar will be working with alcohol-free drinks brands Lyre’s, Gimber and Lucky Saint, who will be putting together a full cocktail menu featuring a range of tipples to satisfy all taste buds without the fear of waking up with a hangover the next morning and completing the Dry Jan month in style. In addition, the doughnut shop will also be serving non-alcoholic beer, lager and cider and even non-alcoholic fizz!
Kay Stanley, co-director of Future Doughnuts, said: “The doughnut shop is spacious and family friendly, so for the event, we’re adding low lighting and candles that feel like going into a bar but for people that aren’t comfortable going into spaces where there’s booze involved. We wanted to create an atmosphere that’s for everyone and not limit those who don’t drink. Even if people don’t like the taste of alcohol, we even have a range of soft drinks.”
Kay hopes that Future Doughnuts can become somewhere that pushes for inclusivity in the Bristol food scene as a non-drinking and vegan establishment. The upcoming Sober Social night (taking place this Friday, 28th January) is set to be the first of many events at the venue to help diversify the shop, and Kay hopes to launch other initiatives that are both entertaining and socially conscious.
“After Sober Social, we have already started organising a food event, which is a hot-dog night in collaboration with Little Martha Brewing, who are three doors down from us,” says Kay.
Bristol – watch this space! Exciting things ahead.
