The cosy decor

High ceilings, warm lighting and roaring fire create a lovely, homely feel during the day, which transforms into a lively and vibrant atmosphere at night. Its floral green wallpaper and comfy leather armchairs create a luxurious and comfortable vibe, which is only accentuated with the polished wood bar and tables seen throughout. You can sit at a large central table with friends or settle back into a dark corner booth – either way, this pub has the kind of vibe that makes you not want to leave.

A drinker’s paradise

With 13 draft products, 17 bottled beers and a famous cocktail menu, it has created a drinker’s paradise. It focuses on local brews with a few handpicked worldly specials. It regularly feature breweries like New Bristol Brewery, Lost and Grounded and Bristol Beer Factory and also has an impressive range of non-alcoholic options to choose from. Its cocktail menu has been handcrafted and revamped after some extra free time for experimentation during lockdown.

Its menu offers 14 options, from classics to custom mixes, and its bar staff don’t think there’s a cocktail that they can’t cater for. The watermelon martini is a delicious twist on a classic, or if you’re feeling brave, then try the infamous pipe dream cocktail that has earned itself quite a name around Bristol.

Great food

Monday to Saturday, long standing residents Smoke and Glaze cater for your hunger cravings. Its chefs have dedicated their lives to creating the perfect burger, using only the best locally sourced produce. The menu contains all of the classics with some interesting additions. The Katsu Chicken burger comes with soy and lime slaw and gochujang honey sauce, while the Chimmy Chimmy Ya burger comes with chorizo and chimichurri dressing; both stand out from the menu.

The sides include halloumi fries, a range of different wings and triple cooked chips, which can be also upgraded with truffle parmesan or katsu. There’s also a vegan burger, too. All round, the food is amazingly tasty and reasonably priced with a great range of options. It’s always served with a smile, which makes eating here a totally pleasant experience.

Delicious roasts

On Sundays, Tucha’s Kitchen takes over the kitchen to deliver one of the most mouthwatering roasts Bristol has to offer. Succulent free-range meat is served alongside crisp roast potatoes, flavoursome Yorkshire puddings and sweet carrots with plenty of gravy. It is the addition of creamy leeks, red cabbage and garlic kale that takes the roast to another level and really makes it one to remember.

They’re served 12-5pm and the pub often gets booked up, so we would recommend booking a table to make sure you don’t miss out.

Event nights

From Thursday to Sunday, the pub’s extended licence allows the crowds to keep boogying until 1am. Every week you’ll find some of Bristol’s finest selectors and music heads behind the decks. From funk and boogie to dub and reggae, the tunes are always flowing. Make sure you don’t get there too late because it’s known to fill up quick! Make sure to check out the website, Instagram or the blackboard on the wall inside the pub to see what events are coming up next.

You can tell that this is the kind of place that the staff really enjoy their jobs and in turn, customers enjoy their experience. With amazing food and drink, and comfortable but lively vibes, what more could you want from your local pub? Whether you decide to go day or night, you’ll have a great time at The Pipe and Slippers.
