Where to find Bristol's best small, independent food and drink places
Looking for Bristol’s best small, independent food and drink venues? Well, you have come to the right place! Bristol is full of epic and quirky independently owned venues ready to match whatever your need.
A proper English lunch. Great for the family or a slightly hungover Sunday. Tucked away in the heart of Clifton Village, you can expect the biggest array of sausages you’ve ever seen, complimented by a classic, creamy mash. You can take it one step further if you’re feeling bold and go for the sausage tasting platter, upgrading them all to ‘toad-in-the-hole’ style. Dogs are welcome too – hoorah!
All there is to say really is the deli produces some BLOODY GOOD FOOD! Think quiches, coffee, pasties, homemade cakes, salad boxes, and scrumptious scotch eggs. Nourish yourself on your lunch break, or grab a deli box and head to the park for an al fresco setup. Whilst you’re there, they also offer refillable glass milk bottles, enabling you to cut down on your household plastic consumption whilst you wait for your coffee. Brilliant.
Coffee, the best vegan pastries you may ever try in your entire life, and plants. What’s not to love?
Great for a solo weekend adventure with a book, couples on a cute coffee run, and families. The vegan pastries are to die for. Vegan berry almond croissant anyone? Umm, yes please! Biscoff croissant perhaps? We’ll take two! And whilst you’re there munching down on your sweet, sweet pastry, check out the epic plant selection on offer, either for yourself or as a gift to a loved one. You can also get your hands on a selection of Italian snacks, available to take home. Our favourite is the Abbracci Biscuits, meaning ‘hugs’, because who doesn’t want one of those?
A true independent success story, having been open on the Bristol scene for over 25 years. At Mud Dock, think breakfast, think pancakes, but also cocktails, mocktails and… bike repairs? An epic, niche venue where you can grab a hearty breakfast whilst having your classic Bristol bike fixed. If you like it that much, you can even get married here, and not just the party part!
An independant cocktail bar down by the water. Loose Cannon is good for groups or work team drinks where you can chill out and have a cheeky Pornstar Martini, or stick around a little later and see where the night takes you. An epic venue with good vibes and friendly staff where you can try a selection of cocktails created by the talented bartenders. The team here are also known for supporting local artists, putting on special art events with live DJs throughout the year. If you’re there, check out the work available to buy along the exposed brick walls and support your creatives whilst you drink.
A venue that is perfect for date night or a get together with the girls. Absolutely delicious tapas on the top floor of the cargo containers overlooking the harbour. A romantic spot next to M Shed and Arnolfini. Perhaps you make a whole evening out of it, starting with art and ending with croquettes and wine. It’s basically Europe, right?
