Bristol's best places for the October Half Term

With the October school break fast approaching, we thought it only too important for Dish Cult to create a guide of tried and tested Bristol eateries for families, grandparents, kids and teachers alike to have somewhere special to dine. Whether it’s date night, a family bonding lunch or a well deserved teaching break, we’ve got you covered. It’s also worth noting that as the weather starts to change, so do a number of the seasonal menus featured, which we absolutely love.

Looking for something a bit different? Seven Lucky Gods is a Japanese-inspired venue serving up sushi and Asian fusion small plates. Perfect for an adult night out, or perhaps introducing the kids to new flavours, this is another fantastic Wapping Wharf venue for both food and aesthetic. If you are having a no kids night, Seven Lucky Gods also offers a brilliant Japanese whisky and sake selection. Maybe it’s the perfect spot to start your half term with a bang!

The perfect place if you are wanting to enjoy a stunning seasonal menu as we cross over into the colder months. This small and cosy bistro has a new menu every week, as well as organic wines and growing its own ingredients just 20 miles away on its own land. A sustainably minded, independent hit. Perfect for date night or an evening adult dinner party with the Full Six Course Menu at £60 pp.

The Mall Deli is a venue with REALLY good, hearty food. From pasties and sausage rolls, to scotch eggs and massive salad boxes, this deli is the ideal lunch stop if you’re having a day in Clifton Village. The staff are always fantastic, and the food will never disappoint. It is worth noting however that there isn’t much outdoor seating, and none indoors, but right opposite is a gorgeous park, so if the weather is nice you could always take your homemade cake slices and coffees there and let the kids run wild for an hour or so.

Launching its autumn menu on 3rd October, and restarting its infamous Veggie Roasts as we ease into the colder months, it is definitely worth a visit to The Canteen in Stokes Croft! With live music six nights a week, it is a cracking venue for either a big Sunday lunch or evening pint. Above The Canteen are floors of art studios and creative spaces, meaning there are always super cool creatives bopping about the place too!

Root is a big hit here at Dish Cult. With a great view of the harbour, as well as a cosy interior at Wapping Wharf, we love dining at this place. The menu is seasonal and the team here really hone in on no waste. Everything is used to its maximum capacity and the passion from the chefs really shows in the food. With a cracking reputation in Bristol, this is a fab spot for everyone.
