Glasgow's best brunches

While Glasgow might be best known for its buzzing nightlife, if you’re in the mood to start eating and drinking a wee bit earlier, the city has plenty to offer! Whether you’re looking for a hearty ‘morning after the night before’ feast to set you up for the day, or a couple of glasses of fizz with your smoked salmon and eggs, Glasgow has it all.

Partick Duck Club is a Glasgow brunch institution, and with good reason! Offering quality comfort food in a relaxed environment, the brunch offerings are available all day and night. Why not kick off your meal with one of the signature cocktails (we love the Bloody Mary made with homemade sriracha) or a non-alcoholic tipple, like a sparkling rhubarb drink? As for food, there’s everything from yoghurt with fruit, nuts and honey, breakfast buns with streaky bacon and ‘nduja jam, avocado toast, and a decadent duck leg hash. The prices are reasonable, and the portions are generous.

Stravaigin
cuisinesFine Dining

Stravaigin has well-earned its reputation as one of the finest restaurants and bars in Glasgow’s West End. Serving up seasonal and inventive dishes for the best part of 25 years, Stravaigin is a must-visit in the city. Happily, the restaurant offers a stellar brunch menu, which is served every day from 9am to 5pm. Sit back in the cosy café bar and sip on a fruity cocktail as you devour one of the sumptuously fresh dishes.

For a stylish neighbourhood eatery that serves up an abundance of fresh and colourful dishes, look no further than The Skillet. With big windows offering plenty of light and pretty, exposed brick walls, it’s a smart spot to enjoy brunch with friends and family. The coffee here is top-notch, but if you fancy something a little stronger, you can’t go wrong with the zingy limoncello spritz! Whether you’re in the mood for a full breakfast (complete with homemade beans and roasted vine tomatoes) or something a little lighter, like Moroccan hummus with salsa verde and sourdough, there’s something to suit all tastes.

Singl-end offers hearty, seasonal fare with plenty of options for vegans or those with gluten intolerances. It also offers an extensive selection of fresh juices, smoothies and, of course, cocktails! We really like the homemade fritters, packed with carrot, halloumi and courgettes, and topped with a perfectly poached egg. Be sure to try the breakfast mimosas, which come in a variety of flavours like mango and tajin, blueberry and hibiscus, and green tea and ginger. Wow!

Mackintosh at the Willow
cuisinesBritish
Smart waiter pouring champagne for two ladies sat at a table

Mackintosh at the Willow holds plenty of Glasgow’s historical art progressions and architectural history, as well as serving up some brilliant food along the way. And that includes brunch! Although only served in a short and sweet window every morning (10am – 11:30am), the brunch experience at Mackintosh is well-worth the timing. The menu is full of classic bites such as daily baked scones with clotted cream and homemade jam, croissants, Danish pastries, carrot and red velvet cakes, and breakfast rolls with a range of fillings from fried eggs, bacon, tattie scones, and sausages.

Cafe Gandolfi is one of Glasgow’s oldest family-owned and run restaurants. Now known as a renowned Scottish institution, the cafe offers the best local produce, used in delightful Scottish dishes. The breakfast menu here is simple, containing everything you could want to start your day on the right foot. Brioche French Toast with caramelised banana and candied walnuts or bacon and Grade A maple syrup, smoked salmon on sourdough, eggs alba and benedict, and a bacon flatbread with cream cheese, coriander and chilli jam are some of our favourite picks. The Gandolfi Full Breakfast is the star of the menu though, complete with Stornoway black pudding, bacon, sausage, tomatoes, potato scone, mushroom, choice of eggs and sourdough toast.

Celinos is a fan favourite in Glasgow. This place has been bringing the very best of Italian cuisine to Glasgow since 1982 and it just keeps getting better. Along with the authentic Italian dishes, the deli is great for picking up some treats for home, and let’s not forget what you came here for: the brunch. Think fluffy eggs, bacon, and maple syrup-topped pancakes, as well as Nutella drenched French toast. Drool!

Eusebi Deli offers one of Glasgow’s most indulgent breakfasts. Head here this weekend where you can enjoy eggs cooked to perfection, delicate pastries, or go the whole hog and get the big Fritto – a meaty breakfast with Italian sausage, grilled pancetta, black pudding, mushrooms, the lot!

Turtle Bay
cuisinesCaribbean, Brunch

The legendary Bay Brunch is exactly what you need when it comes to a boozy brunch in Glasgow. The all new Turtle Bay lets you enjoy five drinks, as well as any brunch dish, burger or wrap for just £27.50! And with more than 20 cocktails to choose from, you’re very spoiled for choice. Our recommendation though has to be the Irn Bru cocktail known as Bru & Stormy, which is exclusive to Glasgow only! As well as cocktails, brunch goers can also choose from prosecco, draft Red Stripe and mocktails, too.

Brunch, Paris-style! Wee Paree is where the French capital meets the west end of Glasgow. It’s a cutesy, romantic spot that feels welcoming and relaxed. The brunch menu is, of course, French inspired. From crepes with pistachio cream and strawberries, to baked omelettes, croque monsieurs, and wild mushroom French toast — there’s no shortage of tasty treats. To drink, we love the signature ‘Paree’ cocktail, a sweet blend of strawberry gin, raspberry syrup, lemon juice and Prosecco. There are a range of well-balanced mocktails available too, alongside an exquisite (largely French) wine list.
