Bistro nights at General Merchants
General Merchants over the years has cemented itself as one of the best breakfast and lunch spots Belfast has to offer, often seen with queues of brunch enthusiasts eagerly waiting outside. Although the venue has gained a loyal following for its daytime offering, General Merchants has recently announced the relaunch of its beloved bistro nights every Thursday through Saturday from 5pm at the Ormeau Road branch.
More than simply a rehash of the early offering, the kitchen crew at General Merchants has put together a completely new and exciting evening menu that changes slightly every two weeks to keep things fresh. Described as a mixed menu of modern yet classic dishes the team at this South Belfast staple has decided to focus on simple flavours but ensuring they are expertly delivered.
Upon visiting, guests can enjoy a menu of classic dishes including Portavogie Prawns, Caramelised Onion & Gorgonzola Tartin and Asian Duck Leg Salad to start before moving on to Pan Fried Seabass, Urad Dal Curry or the signature GM Burger for the main event.
The team at General Merchants has described its new menu as tight and precise, focused on quality with all dishes perfectly created using the freshest local ingredients. If you’d prefer to round off your meal on a sweet note, you’ll not be disappointed with the new menu either – a selection of mouthwatering desserts including Lemon Curd, Baked Vanilla Custard and Affagoto are guaranteed to create a perfect closing to your dining experience.
As well as the enticing main menu filled with comforting classics, visitors can sample General Merchants’ comprehensive wine selection too, with bottles specifically chosen to compliment the flavours of each dish.
If wine isn’t your thing, the popular venue has also added a variety of beers, cocktails and mocktails ensuring there’s something on offer for everyone no matter the taste or preference. This variety also rings true to the main menu with a variety of options for meat eaters, vegetarians and vegans alike, making this the perfect spot for groups, ensuring no one will leave disappointed or leave hungry and wanting more.
