You really can’t get much more of a people pleaser than a steakhouse can you? And thankfully, this one even has veggie options for the non-meat-eaters in the group. A staple of the Dublin dining scene for a few years, they’ve been around as butchers since 1930, so you know you’re in for a good piece of meat! So gather the gang, kick things off with a manhattan, and enjoy a classic Dublin night out.
Perhaps you’re not one for a “big doo” but you’re still one for having a celebration and looking for birthday ideas in Dublin? Round up your other half, your bestie, or your mum and head down to Chapter One. This Michelin-starred joint is famed for delicious food (obviously) in delicious surroundings. Great for pushing the boat out. Try head chef Eric Matthews’ incredible dishes like terrine of wild game, preserved cherries, marinated foie gras, and brioche, or Irish Guinea hen, white pudding, parsley root, re-hydrated Braeburn apple. If you’re going wild, there’s even a tasting menu.
If you’ve been to Japan, you’ll know that an Izakaya is a late night bar, serving up tasty cocktails and nibbles, and one of the best places to hang out. Thankfully, that great atmosphere has been transported to Dublin by the team behind the Yamamori Group. Try out delicious small plates and their incredible sake in a relaxed environment, perfect for celebrating a big day. If you feel like you need something more substantial, their full Yamamori restaurant is just a few doors up South Great George Street.

Fancy adding a bit of fun into your night? Head down to Token, the retro gaming arcade in Smithfield. With 32 retro games, a pinball, and even a cinema screen. Think Mario Kart, Donkey Kong, and Pac Man and you’ve got the right idea. Their food is a “take on high-end fast food” and they serve up treats like waffles, hot dogs with names like “basic bitch”, and buttermilk fried chicken. There’s even a great selection of cocktails to keep you gaming! Make sure you book a table though, it’s always super busy!
Birthday ideas in Dublin you say? How about a game of ping pong? Of course! Foo’sball? You’d be stupid not to. Make like Joey and Chandler and book a spot at Buskers, Dublin’s coolest sports bar. You can play pool, ping pong, foo’sball and much more. Even catch up on the latest sports on their 12 screens showing rugby, football, and GAA. The gang can also fill up on burgers, pizzas, and dogs between games.
