Shuk
cuisinesIsraeli, Mediterranean, Breakfast, Brunch

Nobody does breakfast quite like the Israelis do. Picture steaming hot shakshuka (tomato-baked eggs), a basket of freshly baked pita, dollops of hommus, labne and tahini, and a herbaceous, juicy Israeli salad.

It stands to reason Sydneysiders are flocking to Shuk, a favourite brunch spot in Bondi that’s mastered all of these classics – and more.

The traditional Israeli breakfast here takes on a modern Aussie twist with add-ons like avocado, jam, granola with yogurt and optional bacon, but the combination works. Pair your meal with a pot of Shuk’s creamy chai to fully indulge your culinary wanderlust.

Slept in a little and hungry for more lunchy options? There’s also falafel, 12-hr slow cooked lamb, and tender chicken shawarma skewers.

Dish Cult’s top pick: Israeli breakfast ($24)

Harrys
cuisinesModern Australian, Breakfast, Brunch

If you heard your Sydney pal say “we’re having brunch at Harrys”, you’d be forgiven for thinking Harry was a friend.

That’s exactly what it feels like when you step into this sunny Bondi brekky institution. Though the food may be a touch on the fancier side, the vibes are relaxed and beachy as can be.

Take your pick from the sharply curated menu of modern Aussie breakfast favorites, from gypsy ham eggs benny with a tarragon-spiked hollandaise, to a customisable take on avo smash. All ingredients are produced and sourced locally.

Our pick? Harrys’ fluffier-than-a-cloud blueberry and ricotta hotcake. It’s legendary around these parts. Add on the optional bacon for a decadent post-swim upgrade.

Dish Cult’s top pick: Blueberry and ricotta hotcake ($24)

Lox Stock and Barrel
cuisinesJewish, American, Breakfast, Brunch

If you’ve ever visited New York City, you’ll know that it’s all about the strong coffee, Jewish-style delis and reuben sangas.

Lox Stock and Barrel is a bakery that pays homage to this scene – right smack-bang in the middle of Bondi. Take in the sunny beach vibes as you get your fix of bagel, lox, breakfast bowl or whatever else happens to suit your fancy.

There are wildcard options for the adventurous, such as chopped liver or raw tuna salad, and plenty of authentic American-Jewish dishes to try – from homemade brisket pastrami to chicken noodle soup.

Try the popular brekky roll: a satisfying stack of freshly baked bread, pastrami, fried egg, Swiss cheese, avo, rocket, chilli and relish.

Dish Cult’s top pick: Breakky roll ($17)

Porch and Parlour
cuisinesModern Australian, Breakfast, Brunch, Cocktails

A long-time staple on the Bondi brunch circuit, Porch and Parlour strikes the right balance between hip and heartful. The cafe is a ceramics shop, social hub, events space, and all-day eatery all in one. Does its kaleidoscopic focus take away from the food? To the contrary.

Here’s where you can dine on some of Bondi’s most beloved brunch dishes. You’ll find chorizo and guac-filled brekky burritos, kimchi and Cuban sangas, salmon and eggs galore, and a rainbow of fruit-bomb health smoothies.

The pea pancake is a Porch and Parlour favourite, but don’t be fooled by its humble name. It’s a surprisingly tasty cushion for layers of avocado, feta, poached eggs and tomato relish, with refreshing mint and snowpea salad for a garnish.

Coffee lovers, don’t forget to grab a Will & Co brew on your way out.

Dish Cult’s top pick: Pea pancake ($25)

Bills
cuisinesModern Australian, Breakfast, Brunch

Bills is classic Bondi: busy, bright and bushy-tailed. Expect breakfast staples done extraordinarily well, Instagrammable plating, and sun-dappled terrace seating for soaking up the rays. There are also peach bellinis if you’re in need of some hair-of-the-dog.

So what makes Bills stand out then? A Sydney favourite since 1993, and with outposts all over the city, Bills may be classic, but it doesn’t shy away from keeping things interesting.

Think the modern addition of Scandi-style gravadlax on your sourdough, hibiscus compote in your granola, or Korean lime and chilli in your bloody mary. You can also pick-and-choose unique add-ons for your meal, such as sambal, rose harissa and ricotta.

The result is a Bondi breakfast that makes a strong impression, and will keep you coming back to try what’s next on the menu.

Dish Cult’s top pick: Fried egg and bacon brioche roll with mango chutney aioli and watercress ($18)
