London's best sushi

Dating back to eighth century Japan, sushi is one of the world’s most popular and healthy fast-food alternatives. From tasty temaki to scrumptious sashimi, if the very mention of sushi makes your taste buds tingle, then this list of the best sushi in London is about to “maki” your day.

From the team behind upmarket sushi chain, Chisou, feast your eyes on Sushi Atelier, a wonderfully minimalist eatery on Great Portland Street. Interesting, good quality, and affordable, this place is about to be your new go-to for the best sushi in London. Pull up a seat at the long sushi bar and watch the skilled sushi chefs at work preparing a range of modern sushi. Think spicy salmon, yellowtail and tuna rolls, or go all out and get the Wagyu carpaccio, made with seared wagyu beef with marinated wasabi, ginger-ponzu jelly, and myoga (Japanese ginger).

This place does exactly what it says on the tin, serves yakitori sticks and sushi. Founded by three brothers, Jens and Kim Rahbek and Thor Andersen this place has become somewhat of an institution. Inspired by their half Japanese, half Danish background, they’ve created a unique concept that merges two cuisines. The Covent Garden branch is exquisite and definitely a must for you keen photographers out there. The star of the show however are the yakitori sticks that they do oh so well.
