With festival season underway, it’s time to start planning and getting the most out of your summer. The city’s much loved festival – Liverpool International Music Festival (LIMF) – is back again, although this year it is set to take over the city centre for the first time from the 29th to 31st July. Festivalgoers can enjoy a wide range of genres across the 25 different venues, including the Invisible Wind Factory, the famous Bombed Out Church (St Luke’s), Liverpool Philharmonic Hall, the M and S Bank Arena and plenty more.
At the festival, you should expect to see some familiar faces including the reggae and pop legends UB40 ft Ali Campbell. If you are more of a hip hop fan, you don’t want to miss out on the iconic trio – De La Soul. Don’t forget home grown favourites – The Zutons will be playing, with big crowds expected. If you are heading to LIMF 2022, here are a few restaurants and bars you should visit before heading to your favourite set.
To get yourself in the festival mood, why not head to the Ten Streets Social, which conveniently is right by the Invisible Wind Factory, where alternative R&B star Gaika will be performing, along with Flohio and Glor1a.
At Ten Streets, you can grab some small plates with your fellow festival goers while listening to some excellent live music. If you are heading to the festival on Friday 29th, you might want to carry on the festivities at Locura Presents: Dombresky, where you can enjoy a night of house music until 4am.
Before you head over to see your favourite artists at the Liverpool Philharmonic, you should start your day with a full English at The Quarter. There are plenty of breakfast options, as well as various breakfast cocktails, such as mimosas and espresso martinis, which will put you in the festival mood.
If you are bringing your kids along to LIMF, then The Quarter is one of the best places for child-friendly food. For breakfast, they can opt for a mini English breakfast or for something easy and light, they can choose vanilla yoghurt and berries. Once you and your kids are full to the brim, you can enjoy the celebrations around Hope Street.
If you’ve managed to get your hands on the now sold out Girls In Sync show at the Bombed Out Church, then you may want to grab a bite to eat at Bundobust, which is just a short walk down Bold Street. Bundobust has become one of the best street food spots in Liverpool, with its vibrant Indian dishes that are to die for.
Bundobust not only offers the best Indian street food, but also serves up some excellent craft beers in a comfortable, communal space. Here, you can relax for a few hours with some delicious okra fries and a nice cold Peela pale ale – the perfect way to start your LIMF experience.
The famous Baltic Market gives off the perfect festival vibes, with its benches, street food stalls and cocktails slushes, so what better place to start your day? The market is also just across the road from the Camp and Furnace, another sold out LIMF location hosting The Zutons and their special guests.
The Baltic’s food and drink selection is not the only attraction, as you can also enjoy plenty of amazing live music. For a prime spot, you should head to the Baltic Market early to ensure you get a good view of the stage.
If the main reason you are going to LIMF is The Zutons, then you should get some pre-drinks at a festival goers’ dream bar – Hippie Chic in the Baltic Triangle. This bar is located in a flowery, disco teepee with a giant floral swing in the middle of the bar, which is probably one of Liverpool’s most Instagrammed spots.
Hippie Chic caters to the pizza-obsessed and live music lovers who flock to Hippie Chic for the good vibes, great food and good people. The bar also hosts some of Liverpool’s local DJs, so you are guaranteed to be entertained all day until you are ready to cross the road for The Zutons.
