Where to find Liverpool's best pizza places

Has anyone ever said they were just going to have the one slice of pizza and actually meant it? No, we didn’t think so. Pizza is basically happiness on a plate. Even just looking at one can make you feel gooey inside just like the cheese on top of your fave slice. Do you enjoy a simple margarita? Veggie or meat feast? Whatever you’re into, we’re sure we can all agree that you can’t beat a slice of warm pizza – or even cold for that matter! Below is our guide to some of the best pizzas you’ll find in Liverpool.

Crust has restaurants on Bold Street in the city centre and on Allerton Road in Woolton, so no matter where you’re coming from, there is never a Crust far away. This also says a lot about how amazing the food is – one restaurant just wasn’t enough! Here you’ll find classic and tasty pizzas, all of which are priced reasonably for an affordable dining option. And the portion sizes are more than enough to take a doggy-bag home for the next day!

Amalia is famous for their calzone, weighing just as much as a toddler. They also have some impressive pizzas including a thin crust pizza base covered in sweet tomato sauce, mozzarella, spicy salami and you’ll never guess what – French fries! Some people may think this is a little too much but we for one do not. It may look a little crazy, but you will certainly be left satisfied. If you would rather opt for a meat-free option then the Funghi E Rucola is a must and has been voted one of the best pizzas in England with truffle oil, rocket and mushroom.

The Quarter has been family-run since its opening in 2003, and this shines through in the service, food and atmosphere. A buzzy, vibrant restaurant and café, set amongst the cobbled streets of Liverpool’s Georgian Quarter, this place is steeped in history. The menu is Italian inspired, which means one thing… a range of six varying pizzas, all served with a tomato base and mozzarella cheese.

If you like proper Italian pizza, then you’ll love Il Forno. The restaurant has an elegant interior with a very quirky pizza oven that has been moulded into the shape of the owner’s face! Expect a beautiful combination of a crisp and thin base cooked to perfection in the wood-burning oven, topped with fresh ingredients. If you’re a veggie then have the Rustica, a pizza toped with peppers, mushrooms, spinach, courgettes, aubergines and fresh mozzarella. If you fancy a meat option then try the Capricciosa with anchovies, Italian sausage, artichokes, olives, ham and fresh mozzarella.

It offers 11 flavours of pizza and an option to create your own, too. These come in large or ‘small’, but both sizes are very generous! We highly recommend the Diavlo, which comes with tomato, mozzarella, nduja, jalapeños and hot honey.
