The Winchmore

Veggie burger with side salad

The Winchmore Pub in Enfield, located on Winchmore Hill Road, offers all the pub classics you’d expect from a pub that prides itself on its gourmet offerings. We love the beef burger here, topped with cheese, bacon, tomato, lettuce, gherkins and burger sauce, served with French fries and house slaw. Chicken lovers will enjoy the southern fried chicken burger; a tender cajun spiced chicken fillet is topped with tomato, lettuce, gherkins and garlic mayo, and served in a brioche bun with skinny fries and house slaw. If there’s a group of you, then we’d recommend the Ultimate Burger Selection: six medium beef burgers come with a variety of toppings: two classic cheese, two smoky BBQ and bacon, and two spicy house slaw. You can add a portion of handmade beer battered onion rings if you’re really hungry.

The Butchers Tap & Grill

Cut steak with sides on a table

The Butchers Tap & Grill can be found in the upmarket hub of King’s Road in Chelsea and is the brainchild of Michelin-starred chef Tom Kerridge  — so you know you’re going to find the crème de la crème of pub grub here. In addition to a classic burger and a relatively tame BBQ pulled pork burger and Spanish chicken and chorizo burger, you’ll find the Van McMorrison, which features a beef patty topped with Guinness braised beef, cheddar cheese, creamed cabbage and bacon. Even the veggie option is far more interesting and tempting than the usual plant-based meat alternatives and consists of crispy fried aubergine with tomato chutney, mozzarella and pesto mayo.
