Where to find the best breakfasts in Bristol

Breakfast is said to be the most important meal of the day, and most of us don’t treat it with the respect it deserves. For those of us that can, weekends are reserved for luxurious morning meals (often with something stronger than coffee on the side). Next time you want to enjoy a leisurely breakfast outing, keep this guide in mind because we’ve got the best places for breakfast in Bristol.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day so why not visit Chew Kitchen and enjoy your favourite food in a welcoming atmosphere? Located in Chew Valley, Chew Kitchen is a modern British bistro open all day where you can relax before you start your day. The venue boasts a menu that reflects the seasons and is made of local produce, so expect a fresh and high-quality meal. There are plenty of options if you’re a picky eater. The breakfast menu features all the classics, from white toast with jam and scrambled eggs on sourdough to American pancakes with maple syrup and bacon. For those who get really hungry, we recommend the filling Chew Kitchen Breakfast with poached Greenacre eggs, bacon, sausage, beans, tomato, mushroom, bubble and squeak, and toast.

Want to start your day right? There are only a few breakfast spots that can match the charm of The Bristol Loaf. The venue is known for its plant-filled interior and friendly staff that will put you in a good mood before you even lay your hands on the delicious food. The cafe serves breakfast on Sundays alongside speciality coffee (available in the Brew Bar). Whether you like to eat something sweet first thing in the morning or go for a more traditional breakfast, you’ll find something for yourself on the menu. For example, you can have a granola, gooseberry compote and yoghurt to keep it light. If you prefer a big breakfast, you can also go for a more filling option like fried eggs on sourdough bread – no right or wrong options here.

Bocabar Paintworks is a warehouse bar mainly known for its Brazilian-style pizzas. However, not many people realise that the venue also serves a delicious traditional breakfast. The full English is available every weekend between 10 and 11:30am with a few variations of the classic to choose from. You can never go wrong with the Very English breakfast that includes a Buxton Butchers Cumberland sausage, Buxton Butchers bacon, grilled tomato, hash browns, poached egg, mushrooms, baked beans, toast and butter. There are also vegetarian and vegan options featuring a plant-based sausage, which is equally delicious. The interior is also cosy, and the atmosphere is welcoming. Perfect for some alone time before work and a catch-up with a friend on your day off.

Cosy Club is one of those restaurants in Bristol that people visit not only for the food, but also for the amazing decor. Previously a church and a bank, the old building features a domed roof, marble flooring and chandeliers which translate into a sophisticated atmosphere – perfect for enjoying the most important meal of the day. Apart from the classic English Breakfast, there’s our favourite, The Cosy Butcher’s Brunch, but don’t be fooled by the name. It comes with treacle-cured pork belly chop, two Cumberland sausages, smoked back bacon, eggs, house rostis, chorizo beans, and buttered toasted sourdough – an ideal combo to keep you fuelled for the rest of the day. And did we mention there are also breakfast cocktails on the menu?

The most important meal of the day tastes best when it’s homemade, but sometimes it’s good to change the scenery and catch up with a friend in a nice venue, which is why places like Duck & Willow exist. Located in Downend, Duck & Willow is a relaxed gastropub where you can find good vibes and locally sourced, home-cooked food. The menu is straight to the point with three breakfast options. We urge you to try the Duck breakfast (think the classic English breakfast with black pudding) or the Willow breakfast featuring egg, roast mushroom, tomato, wilted spinach, red pepper ragu, hash brown, baked beans, and sourdough toast. The venue also has a family-friendly beer garden; what could be better than enjoying delicious food in the sun?

Farrington Park offers more than laid-back dining, it’s a unique experience that guarantees a peaceful atmosphere in great surroundings. The venue boasts an award-winning golf course with spectacular views; if you enjoy the countryside setting, you’ll love it here. Apart from the golf course, the venue has many other facilities including a gym. If you’re after a productive morning you could get breakfast first and then join a fitness class. Speaking of food, there are plenty of breakfast options that cater to every whim: from a bacon sandwich to buttermilk pancakes with maple syrup, everyone will find something for themselves. If you have a long day ahead, we recommend the traditional English breakfast with crispy streaky bacon or the veggie version with vegetarian sausage – you can’t go wrong with a classic. Great for a family or solo day out. You’ll leave full and recharged.
