The food is great, but the venue is even better. Set on a rooftop, Chaophraya offers breathtaking views out towards Edinburgh Castle and the Firth of Forth with an all year round al fresco terrace. Whether it may be a family celebration, catching up with friends or a business event, Chaophraya is the place to head when looking for an Thai restaurant in Edinburgh. Picture this; traditional family recipes that have been passed down for 3 generations, fused with innovative flair and modern cooking techniques. The result? Simply the finest Japanese cuisines in town. Harajuku Kitchen is by far one of Edinburgh’s best and most iconic restaurants. It’s been AA Rosette awarded and even won the Golden Chopstick Awards in 2019. These guys are usually packed so we highly recommend you book your table before heading along. “Arigatou Gozaimasu”!
Travel all the way to Beijing at Rendezvous restaurant and get a taste of authentic Cantonese cuisine. Established in 1956, Rendezvous is the oldest remaining Chinese restaurant in town, and undoubtedly one of the best. Come here for Kung Po chicken, quick-fried lamb with spring onion, roast duck with plum sauce, and other fiery tongue-tinglers. And if you’re struggling to choose your plate (Chinese restaurants menus are sometimes quite extensive), eat from the buffet and try everything! Chopsticks out, ready, set, go!
Ronaq is a fine dining restaurant specialising in truly amazing Indian cuisine. Their menus feature traditional homemade dishes, using spices and herbs from different regions of South Asia. You’ll find them on Comely Bank, on the edge of Stockbridge, in a contemporary and cool atmosphere, or in their new venue in New Waverly. We loved it and you will too!
Another favourite Indian spot, just because Indian food is truly some of the best. After becoming one of Glasgow’s favourite institutions, the people behind Mother India decided to expand their little gem by opening a new restaurant in the capital, bringing happiness and yummy food to the people of Edinburgh. And we’re very thankful. Their menu mainly consists in Indian tapas, it’s a shared experience that encourages people to try both their favourite and something different. And, their menu is very vegetarian and vegan friendly. So whether you’re popping out for lunch or heading off for a night out at one of Edinburgh’s many attractions, Mother India is an affordable and tasty option.
