Since hitting our shelves just over a year ago, Tony’s (The Netherland’s favourite chocolate – and one of ours too) has kept climbing to new heights with their perfectly-sweet and decadent flavours. This Easter, we’re excited to see Tony’s jumping onboard the Easter Egg train with their Egg-stra Special Easter Eggs.
Arriving in the cutest mini egg tray, Tony’s has transformed their most beloved flavours and created an assortment of mini chocolate eggs to snack on. Enjoy 12 eggs across the pack, in milk chocolate, dark chocolate, caramel sea salt, hazelnut and almond sea salt. You can get your hands on these delightful egg trays from Farro Fresh or Cook and Nelson.
Our favourite part? Tony’s exists to end slavery in the chocolate industry with a mission to make 100% slave free the norm in chocolate – so it’s all guilt-free!
When we think Easter, of course we think Hot Cross Buns. Whether you’ve always been a fan or it’s something that’s come with adulthood, a toasted Hot Cross Bun is one of the best things about this time of year. Pairing perfectly with the slightly cooler weather, we can’t get our hands on enough of the things.
To take the guesswork out of whose making the best buns this year, we’ve tried and tested the very best across Auckland to create your ultimate guide to the best HCBs for the 2022 season. Pick some up for the Easter weekend or stock up to keep them frozen for a bit and enjoy! Don’t forget to let us know which one’s your favourite.
Known for always doing the most, Cordis has bought out another seasonal treat to blow our minds. Located at their resident cocktail bar, Our Land Is Alive, you’ll find the Bunny Buns cocktail. The sweet cocktail combines black collar vodka, vanilla syrup, in-house spiced syrup, almond milk, almond liquor and hazelnut liquor – like a hot cross bun in a glass!
The Bunny Buns is only available from April 15-17 at Our Land Is Alive, book in now so you don’t miss out on this one!
If you’ve never experienced a Whittaker’s Chocolate Kiwi for Easter, you have been deprived one of the most iconic Easter treats and this is the year to change that. Besides being such an iconic treat for its shape and delicious chocolate, the Kiwis also help donate 20c per bird to the NZ charity Save the Kiwi.
Made locally in Porirua, this is about as ‘support local’ as you can get. Available now in Five Roll Refined Creamy Milk and 50% Dark Chocolate, you can secure your Kiwi from any major supermarket from now until Easter.
Looking to conquer all the major holidays, you’ll no longer have to wait for Christmas to get your Scorched Almonds fix this year. Entering the Easter market, Allen’s has treated us to the Scorched Almonds Easter Box featuring silky smooth milk chocolate egg filled with Scorched Almonds in a recyclable box.
You’ll find the Scorched Almonds Easter Box nationwide at Pak ‘n Save, New World, Countdown and The Warehouse in the lead up to Easter.
Featuring in our favourite hot cross buns, Ima Cuisine is well-known far and wide for their custard-heavy hot cross buns, often selling out not long about opening each day. This year, they’ve gone the extra mile and teamed up with one of our favourite ice creameries, New Zealand’s own Duck Island – to create the ultimate collaboration.
The ice cream engineers at Duck Island have steeped Ima’s HCB into their ice cream with extra warming spices like nutmeg and allspice, with custard ice cream swirled in to really replicate Auckland’s favourite HCB. This flavour will only be available for a limited time so hit up Duck Island’s Ponsonby or Newmarket stores now!
