A new wine and grazing bar is coming soon to Edinburgh

We love a local success story at Dish Cult and we’re pleased to see a local Edinburgh teacher has given up her career to pursue her dream of opening her very own wine and grazing bar. Karly Zagorac has taken over the site at 36 Leven Street, after her initial food and drink tours went down a treat.

Karly Zagorac is now the proud owner of A Wee Taste, a new grazing bar serving up a range of stunning sharing platters paired alongside a good bottle of wine.

Deciding to follow her dream after years of working as a teacher at Royal High School, Karly has taken over the site at 36 Leven Street, following the success of her initial food and drink tours.

The brand new wine bar will open on 28th June and will be running from 12.30pm until 10pm from Tuesday-Sunday, offering up both sweet and savoury platters.

The savoury options feature the likes of IJ Mellis cheese and the Edinburgh Butter Company, while the sweet options will include freshly baked brownies, blondies and fresh fruit.

The venue will also be running wine and gin tasting events, as well as ‘build your own platter’ workshops once fully up and running.

Having launched the food and drink tours pre-pandemic as a weekend side project to her day job as a history teacher, Edinburgh local Karly forged strong relationships with some of Scotland’s most prominent producers and suppliers, many of whom will be found on A Wee Taste’s menu.

Karly said: “This business really began with my own passion for the producers and suppliers on our doorstep here in Edinburgh. We saw huge potential with the tours and they were beginning to really take off with tourists and locals alike just before Covid hit.

“Thankfully, being a teacher by trade, I was able to continue working and planning for what was to come next, and I am so delighted to now be making a permanent home in Edinburgh for our wee business.

“Being very aesthetically pleasing, with lots of texture and colour, the grazing board concept has become so popular recently, and we’re tapping into that trend with our own little spin. Our boards are a full meal, rather than being a light nibble. With sweet and savoury choices, as well as vegetarian and vegan options, all tastes are catered for. Plus, we have painted the outside of the venue pink, so it’s impossible to miss!”

A Wee Taste will open from Tuesday to Sunday, 12:30pm to 10pm, and bookings are now live via the website.
