With the epic double bank holiday weekend coming up in June for The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, we thought it a good idea to create a special Dish Cult guide featuring the very best places to spend the long weekend and really make the most of that extra time off. We’re sure that in true Bristol style there will be a number of community based celebrations over the four-day weekend, so if you want to double the fun with great food, awesome drinks and good vibes then check out these places.
With options for everyone, Caper and Cure is a sophisticated crowd pleaser. An absolutely stunning menu featuring the likes of fresh crab, Cornish mussels, truffle chips and ox cheek ragu, we can guarantee you’ll be leaving here very satisfied. Definitely a venue for a special occasion, just like the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee! Perfect for a delightful date night, too.
The Grapevine Brasserie is a vibrant venue with ‘Bottomless Prosecco Lunch’, which is ideal for long weekend celebrations! With seasonal dishes and an al fresco drinking area, this is a great summer daytime spot. There’s also a children’s menu too, making everyone happy here.
Affectionately known as ‘The Kenny’ by locals, this gorgeous gastropub is the place to come for a traditional Sunday roast. The Kensington Arms has a rep for amazing roasts with super delicious vegetarian options and decadent desserts. A great one to bring the family to, it’s ideal for a post long weekend Saturday night party, or to kick off the extra day celebrations! If you fancy making an event of it, you can even hire a private dining room.
We love a Wapping Wharf venue here at Dish Cult and this one is sure to not disappoint! Harbour & Browns is all about small plates and brunch, offering stunning options for fish, meat and veggie eaters. We think you could spend your Jubilee weekend having a delicious lunch here and then take the short walk over to S.S. Great Britain to really get into the royal celebrations!
With a cobbled courtyard and British menu, The Albion is a classic spot to visit during the long weekend. Where better to spend your Monday off than this 17th century coach house. Grab a pint of Somerset Cider, enjoy the award-winning food, top class service and bask in the sun. Using local produce to create five star Sunday roasts, this is certain to satisfy the hungriest of diners.
A hop, skip and a jump from Blaise Castle Estate, The Blaise Inn is an ideal spot to end or start a glorious weekend walk. We love how The Blaise Inn is run by a husband and wife team really putting heart into everything they do here. With a menu offering good wholesome food, with snacks including chorizo sausage rolls, you can’t go wrong over the four-day weekend.
A super fun, chilled venue to visit with your pals ahead of a wild Stoke’s Croft night out! Om Burger is a vegan/veggie diner with “food that feeds the soul”. Head over for vegetarian burgers and loaded fries pre-bank holiday night out in the heart of Stoke’s Croft whilst keeping it eco conscious, with the food being as healthy and sourced as locally as possible without costing a small house deposit every time you eat here.
