Bristol's best places for cheeseboards
A guide created especially for our Dish Cult ultimate cheese lovers out there! Find an epic collection of cheese-fuelled venues, that more often than not also host some fantastic activities. From beer and cheese tasting events, to board games and actual celebration ‘Cheese Cakes’ – these Bristol venues are simply genius!
We love a Wapping Wharf venue here at Dish Cult, and The Bristol Cheesemonger does not disappoint! Self described as a “specialist cheesemongers focusing on local, seasonal British cheeses”, we are a big fan of local produce. Not so much a dine-in eatery, but the absolute perfect place for any cheese lover to go and create their own cheeseboard or epic celebration ‘Cheese Cake’; seriously, if you’re a cheese lover and looking for a birthday cake, PLEASE check this out! You can also click and collect or order seasonal cheeseboards for up to 10 people – perfect for a party or foodie date night.
A cracking venue for top-class cocktails and boardgames, accompanied by marvellous cheeseboards. A great place for groups of friends and families, the games available are absolute classics, from Battleship to Guess Who? A super fun trip out, helped along by Espresso Martinis and packed out cheeseboards, with lots of grapes too!
Cider and cheeseboards devoured whilst onboard a boat with a cracking atmosphere – what a dream! A moored converted cider boat in the heart of Bristol, we highly recommend the Ploughman’s Board or Frenchman’s Lunch here, washed down with a pint of cider, ideally sat in the sun. There are no reservations, but fear not, there are two floors on this epic floating vessel, so come down and get yourself and your pals on a bench.
More of a DIY takeaway cheeseboard here, but talk about a diverse venue! Papadeli is an award-winning triple threat, featuring a cookery school, catering business and deli cafe – a foodie’s ideal spot. With an artisan cheesemonger here too, you can devour the delicious cheese on your lunch break, and learn all about how to make it yourself at the school onsite. Created on the back of living an inspired European life in Italy, France and Spain, you can get a good idea of the delicious, extensive range of cheeses available. Papadeli can even supply your wedding with cheeses if you like!
A bit of a rogue addition here, but we wanted to mention the Baked Camambert here at New Moon Tapas. With Prosecco, pink peppercorns, and chili figs, it is absolutely dreamy. Not quite a cheeseboard, but definitely enough cheese to feel totally warm from the inside out, like a warm cheese hug. And even better is that New Moon has a second, boho-vibe venue on the Quayside!
