Steve Drake opened Sorrel in 2017 and was awarded a Michelin star the following year, together with AA Restaurant of the Year Award. Sorrel has also been shortlisted for GQ Restaurant of the Year, longlisted for the World Restaurant Awards and recently received its fourth AA Rosette recognising it as ‘among the top restaurants in the UK, where the cooking demands national recognition’. Most recently, Sorrel has been listed in Harden's Top 100 UK Restaurants for the second year running. Sorrel's home is an attractive 300 year old building in the centre of Dorking and is named after Steve's favourite herb. Having worked in the area for many years he understands what diners are looking for and has built great relationships with local producers and suppliers, and seasonal ingredients form the backbone of Sorrel's menus. Michelin says 'Don’t be fooled by the simple descriptions as these belie the complexity of the techniques used in his creative modern dishes, where flavours, textures and temperatures come together in perfect harmony'.
