IN VIDA offers an adventurous Mexican menu that draws inspiration from the Aztec and Meso-American cultures, and from the Day of the Dead traditions. From the outset, this venue is true to its mission to inspire each and every patron with the spirit of the Day of the Dead. The M&A Lane entrance greets diners with an Aztec Garden of custom made concrete sculptures, where external blinds feature a large format interpretation of the iconic Day of the Dead mural by Jose Guadalupe Posada, The Calavera of Don Quixote. Inside, a sleek new spotted gum bartop runs adjacent to the venue’s ‘ofrenda’, a ritual altar to the spirits of the passed. The provocatively moody, fully themed fit-out includes homage to the extensive history of the Day of the Dead celebrations. Large format original mural artworks adorn walls in the main dining room while ornate mirrors, crosses, artworks and tiles imported from Mexico create a rich sensory experience designed to infuse the spirit of diners with the spirit of the festival. Celebrated around the world, originating in what is now Mexico, the Day of the Dead is nothing less than one of the human civilisation’s greatest shared celebrations. Festival origins stretch back thousands of years to rituals celebrating the deaths of ancestors in pre-columbian cultures. The festival that developed into the modern Day of the Dead was celebrated for an entire month by the Aztecs. To that end, the SIN VIDA restaurant offers a menu designed to be shared, that rewards exploration, and that brings new culinary experiences to Brisbane diners. In the spirit of Dia de los Muertos, it has been priced for accessibility to all, but caters to the critics with its range and creativity. Of course no Day of the Dead experience would be complete without a full liquor license, a fully stocked tequila bar and a Day of the Dead themed house cocktail list.
