CRU is a small, family-run wine bar created by Matt and Emma. What used to be a building site has been completely transformed by us into a cosy, welcoming space where our guests can come in, switch off and stay a while. We’re a seated wine bar with around 30 covers, a mix of tables and sofas, and a real log burner for the colder days. There’s no rushing here — we don’t relay tables, so once you’re in, you can properly settle in for the evening. Wine is at the centre of what we do. We offer nearly 100 wines by the glass using our Coravin system, so our guests can try something new without committing to a full bottle. It’s not about being experts — it’s about enjoying wine, learning as we go, and creating a space where everyone feels comfortable, whether you know your wine or not. Alongside that, we serve a small selection of cocktails made from scratch (no pre-mix), and grazing boards made to order with quality cheeses and cured meats. CRU is very much a passion project. We keep things personal, keep our pricing fair, and focus on creating an atmosphere where our guests feel relaxed, looked after, and want to come back. We’re also dog-friendly, with our miniature dachshund Mouse usually around to welcome both our guests and their dogs.
