About The Ploughman
A traditional Scottish restaurant and sports bar serving the finest locally sourced produce and showing all the big sporting events. An elegant and balanced wine list along with the extensive range of beers, whiskies, gins (and more) serve to compliment a hearty food offering. With a warm and friendly atmosphere, and whether you’re popping in for a “pie and a pint” or a 3 course dinner, the owner managed Ploughman will tick all the boxes.
We are a dog friendly establishment, with dogs allowed in all outside areas, Pool Room and Public Bar.
Availability
My burger was a bit dry and overcooked but the scampi and haddock that the other diners ordered were ok. There was a strange smell in the restaurant - never noticed it on previous visits. The staff as usual were lovely, friendly, helpful and attentive.

First time in a while at the Ploughman - but we certainly were not disappointed - a warm welcome and attentive, young, charming staff - the food was first class - husband had roast of the day which was lamb - delicious - I had a new dish Salt and Pepper Monkfish with a curry sauce as a main course - absolutely superb and we shared the cheesecake of the day which was made on the premises - absolutely wonderful, toffee cheesecake with lots of toffee and our favourite Porelli ice cream. We will definitely be heading back - we asked if they did senior portions though as the portions were HUGE - we managed to demolish it however - didn't need anything else that day - keep up the good work - you are doing brilliantly.

Always lovely food. Service was not as good on this visit but not bad. Tables too small, always feel very squashed in which is not ideal.
Lovely meals served by helpful staff
We eat out a lot, this was our first visit to the ploughman and certainly wont be the last. The food was amazing, service was timely and with a smile. My husband never normally comments on his food but he thought it was amazing and kept talking about his chicken cranachen, which he said was the best food he had ever eaten. Even my daughter was impressed and that's pretty hard to do.

Service is always first class, Atmosphere is always relaxed, nothing is a problem and the food is excellent this was first time having Haddock Mornay and it didn’t disappoint.
