Highly Recommended: Sugar by Chelsea Bay in Birkenhead

It goes without saying, dining out with tamariki in tow can be hard. We were on the hunt to find the most accommodating and entertaining spot for the little ones, all while providing the non-adolescents with a quality meal and peace of mind that the whole whānau is happy.

From the get-go, Archie’s is kid-friendly. The welcoming atmosphere the staff create makes both parents and children feel appreciated in the lively restaurant. Going the extra mile to put a smile on the kids’ faces, Archie’s not only welcomes kids but celebrates their presence while dining out.

With a child-friendly menu, even the fussiest eaters will be pleasantly surprised – worst-case scenario: cheese pizzas all around. On occasion, tamariki are encouraged to roll their own dough for the pizza (it’s a win-win!).

For the adults, Archie’s traditional Italian fare goes down a treat. Wood-fired pizza, pasta, antipasti, and hearty mains make up the menu, with a delectable wine menu to match.

Above all else, the biggest and most common compliment Archie’s receives over and over is the wonderful staff. Working hard to make you and your whānau as comfortable and relaxed as possible, they’re constantly going the extra mile and keeping themselves top of mind when you think about dining out with kids.
