With a longstanding history at 39 Ponsonby Road, a new team of creatives have breathed a gust of fresh air into the opportunistic spot, resulting in a timeless, welcoming, and ultra-cool bar, bringing a certain sparkle to the Ponsonby Road lineup.

Guests will instantly be transported to an ethereal wonderland when they walk in. Interior elements such as the dim lighting, whimsical decorations, and ornate cabinet behind the bar create an otherworldly atmosphere. Other bonuses of the location include all-day sun, and a wide variety of areas you can choose to dine in.
There are three components of the location that patrons can look forward to hiring for private events. Cafe 39 has an inside bar, cosy corner, lower outdoor garden, and the upper outdoor garden bar.
In terms of menu, the food options include sharing platters and small plates. A motto that Cafe 39 holds dear is to be a place of community, connecting people from all walks of life over a drink and a meal. The beverage range successfully manages to stay afloat in a district known for excellent bars. Our favourite feature is of course, the lively bar staff who are ready and waiting to help craft you the perfect drink. While the drinks menu is tempting and tantalising, the skilled bartenders are more than happy to ask for and incorporate your flavour preferences, resulting in the utmost perfect drink, crafted exactly down to your personal likings.
The final component which sets this location apart from the rest is the live music. To liven up the environment and create a warm mood, live entertainment is provided.
Overall, whether you’re just dropping in for a quick drink or with friends, Cafe 39 is a bar well worth checking out. Among all the big names in Ponsonby, this hidden gem has some aces up their sleeve from the bar menu, and it never hurts to appreciate some good music and a good chat while you enjoy your beverage.
