Nights out in Manchester at Christmas
It’s almost that time of the year when we all start planning for what we will do during the Christmas holidays. We all want Christmas to be as perfect as possible, yet there can be so much pressure on us that it can be overwhelming. But don’t worry because Dish Cult’s got you covered! Below we’ve created a guide on our best places to celebrate Christmas in Manchester, where you can dine with family and friends, and to party during this merry time.
Where best to start than Manchester’s famous Christmas Market? Back after being in exodus due to the pandemic last year, there will be so much to eat, drink and get involved in this year like never before. From 12th November, located primarily in Piccadilly Gardens unlike other years due to town hall renovations, there will be plenty of stalls offering all kinds of delicacies like Greek food and Dutch frites. A pop-up Christmas pub will be created plus lots of other events for all the family in other locations. For example, the ice rink will be back in the Cathedral Gardens and so too is the Christmas Light Trail. Book now to not miss any of the Mancunian Christmas fun!
Linking into the Christmas Market, you will be able to buy the Yard & Coop’s famous buttermilk fried chicken right there! However, the Yard & Coop is also a great venue for a meal with friends, family or colleagues. Yard & Coop allows you to build your own fried chicken plate or to select a big set plate or burger instead. During the school holidays, children eat free on weekdays with every adult meal bought. That’s just another reason to eat at this exciting establishment.
Located at the Mayfield Depot next to the Warehouse Project, Escape to Freight Island is always a lively place to eat and drink, with plenty always going on. But this Christmas there will be even more to do. The area will become a winter wonderland from November 5th, with new vendors, such as Great North Pie Co. There’ll be plenty to do, from drinking mulled wine to watching live music and more. Craig Charles will be there with the best funk and soul music, as is expected when he comes to town. You can book a table now.
From 4th November, Mancunian pizza giants Ramona will combine with their friends at The Firehouse to create a wonderful winter paradise. Located in between Northern Quarter and Ancoats, this Winter Village has all you need for a festive night out. Great food is to be expected from these two institutions. Along with the food they’ll provide a festive dance floor, a terrific terrace, pine trees, Christmas lights and decorations, campfires, log cabins and much more! You can book a table now.
HOME Manchester is a perfect place for an evening out. Firstly, its restaurant on the first floor is a fabulous place to eat exquisite and varied food, from buddha bowls, delicious pizzas to Catalan fish stew. After having a scrumptious meal, HOME has plenty on offer to watch afterwards. We recommend watching one of their Christmas plays at their theatre. In addition, their cinema rooms will have a selection of Christmas films on. During the Christmas holidays, this is definitely the place for a festive watch.
Just before Christmas Day, The Blues Kitchen will have you swinging into the Christmas spirit. This jazzy establishment has brilliant events on, from famous musicians performing to classic jazzy disco nights. For example, their Beers, Bourbon and Live Blues event will have you eating southern style chicken wings, sipping bourbon cocktails and dancing your heart out to beat of the music.
If you’re looking for a cool and a stylised ‘secret’ cocktail bar to take your friends to, then look no further than this laundry facility. While The Washhouse doesn’t actually clean your laundry, they do serve unique and creative cocktails surrounded by washing machines and DAZ tablets. The Washhouse is renowned for its unbelievable service and style as well. It’s definitely Mancunian cocktail bar to celebrate the holidays this year.
Dive, one of the main players in the Northern Quarter, is a versatile establishment. You can have cocktails, a late-night boogie or even watch live sport. Their food menu is varied too, serving hot dogs, charred broccoli and even lobster! Dive will become a winter wonderland in a few weeks and are open for group bookings, making a superb location for a night out with friends, family or colleagues. Their Christmas menu will come with a twist by Zumu: Asian-style street food, which will be turned festive. The sushi Christmas trees are a must buy!
