The ultimate guide to a Christmas night out in London
The capital city’s best-loved bars and eateries are brimming with Christmas spirit and they’re getting booked up fast. With so much choice and such little time, we’ve rounded up the very best of the bunch to save you the hassle. So, whether you’re seeking a grog-filled grotto or something more sophisticated, you can consider your next Christmas night out sorted.
After a missed year in 2020, London’s ultimate Christmas destination is back with a vengeance. Opening for six weeks from 19th November, Hyde Park’s Winter Wonderland is set to delight Londoners all season long with its fun, festive offering. From live music performances at The Fire Pit to late-night drinks at Thor’s Tipi, there’s something to suit just about every night-out mood. Plus, with plenty of street food options available, you can eat on the go while you explore the entire event space. Evening tickets are available to pre-book every night of the week from just £5 per person.
From 11th November, Pergola Paddington transforms into a winter wonderland forest, complete with 350 Christmas trees, more than a million twinkling lights, warming log fires and five new food pop-ups. Bringing a six-week line-up of seasonal events to the city – from gospel choir singalongs and drag brunches to cheese nights, movie screenings and wreath making workshops – the popular Paddington venue has an event for just about every corporate celebration, family gathering and festive night out with friends. Now taking bookings for tables and lodges for up to 50 people, and offering a covetable Christmas cocktail menu, Deck the Halls is a must for your party-season visit list.
Boasting a garden bar, two karaoke rooms, buzzing indoor bar and relaxed restaurant, east London’s Mama Shelter is serving up plenty of space for bespoke Christmas fun. With two festive set menus on offer for groups of 12 or more – served up alongside its signature cocktails, homemade food and live music – you’re guaranteed a night to remember.
In collaboration with Laurent-Perrier, the city’s cosiest igloos have had a makeover for the colder seasons. Alongside its picturesque river views and bistro light-drenched terrace, Tower Hill’s Coppa Club adds a new festive menu to its already-impressive offering. Featuring Christmas classics – from pigs in blankets and roast turkey to mince pies – and plenty of Champagne, the riverside establishment should be top of your visit list this season. Seeking the same experience in South West? Look out for the group’s next location, Coppa Club Putney, now taking bookings from 2nd November onwards.
To make up for last year’s missed plans, Victoria hotspot Timmy Green is offering up two festive menus this year – with an Aussie twist, obviously. Guests visiting throughout the season can enjoy three courses and a Christmas cocktail from just £39.50. From hearty roasts featuring the brand’s famous five-day gravy to a classy crème brûlée with Champagne jelly, there’s a dish to please just about every customer. So, whether you’re a group of two or 200, partying with your partner or the entire office, head to the Australian café or one of its sister venues for a truly memorable winter meal.
Famed for its British classics and creative cocktails, Old Compton Brasserie won’t disappoint when it comes to celebrating Christmas. Expect traditional roast turkey, classic Christmas pudding and three new limited-edition cocktails, named after some of the most festive faces in history. For those seeking a post-dinner night-cap, there’s nowhere better to extend the night than the bustling streets of Soho. With crowds spilling out of every bar and well into the street, the al fresco festive vibe is pretty much unparalleled.
If Covent Garden’s decoration-drenched stores, streets and bars aren’t enough to satisfy your Christmas cravings, Bunga Bunga’s series of seasonal events should do the trick nicely. Offering everything from Singalonga-Christmas-Bunga karaoke to Festive Buff Brunch, there’s no place quite like it for seasonal partying. Expect metre-long pizzas, bottomless drinks, next-level entertainment and a fully decked out dining room. Running events from the end of November and throughout December, your first festive night out could be sooner than you think.
Transporting you straight back in time to the Victorian era, each of the Mr Fogg’s locations are pulling out all the stops for Christmas. Whether you’re heading to Mayfair or Liverpool Street, you can expect to sample a series of creative cocktails for which the brand is so well-known surrounded by mistletoe, garlands and festive fairy lights. Exclusively for the festive season, their tipsy teas, gin safaris and prosecco brunches are given a Christmas twist and you’re invited to discover them all.
