The story behind award-winning Gradi is a good one. It was founded by Johnny di Francesco in 2008, years after the 12 year-old Johnny got his first job making pizzas to buy a pair of Nikes! Then he went to Italy to learn the art of making a true Neapolitan pizza.

The list of pizzas here is a mile long, which may make it difficult for diners to settle on just one. There’s Porcina (mushroom), Portofino (seafood), Diavola (hot salami), and 154 Formaggi (cheese), which won a Guinness World Record, to name a few.

400 Gradi Brunswick is open from 12pm until late, 7 days a week. You can order delivery or pick-up, or book a table via their website.

Otherwise, carnivores can indulge with a Spoletina (which is drowning in prosciutto), or get your veg on with a Vegana (topped with vegan cheese and vegan salami.)

Now, pineapple on pizza is a divisive issue. You either love it, or think it is an abomination.

At Northside Wines, they make Hawaiian pizzas with a twist, which may well bring you across to the dark side. The ham on this pizza is braised, and the pineapple is spiced. Are you game?

If not, the salami and blue cheese is sure to fulfill all of your cravings for salt, spice and tang, while the cauliflower pizza brings some heat with jalapenos.

Not surprisingly, this venue has many, many wines to choose from. Northside Wines is open 7 days a week from 3pm until late on weekdays and midday until late on weekends. You can order food and make bookings on their website too.

Six friends started this pizzeria using recipes that their Neopolitan Nonnas passed down to them. If you love your Italian tucker but eat low gluten food, then give this place a try.

Once again, we have pizzas with both red and white bases. From the bianco (white) menu, lovers all of things fungi will appreciate the Tartufata (mushrooms, truffle oil, rocket and fior di latte), and fans of grilled eggplant will appreciate the Parmigiana (eggplant, tomato salsa, basil, fior di latte and stracciatella.)

You can find some lunch at their CBD venue Monday to Friday, and dinner and drinks Monday to Sunday. Delivery and bookings are available via their website. For Toorak patrons, they do dinner and drinks but no lunchies.
