Craving chocolate? We've got your Melbourne hit list for delicious chocolate desserts.

Did you know that Marie Antoinette’s favourite drink was hot chocolate? So make like a queen (or king, for that matter), and get your choccie fix at any one of these Melbourne venues that serve tantalising chocolate delights.

La Petite Creperie
cuisinesSweet and savoury crepes

This teeny little crepe stand on a busy inner city corner of Melbourne exemplifies quality over quantity. The menu is quite simple, yet the various elements that they serve with their delicate, lacey crepes are the perfect accompaniments.

If you have a sweet tooth, then you can choose from traditional crepe toppings like chocolate (of course) sugar, whipped cream, lemon, and strawberries, or more modern takes (i.e. the nutella with almonds.

La Petite Creperie is a little piece of French takeaway smack bang in the middle of Melbourne, just over the road from the Town Hall.

Dish Cult recommends ordering the $6 Crepe Flambé with apple, plum and cinnamon jam, and Calvados

Mörk first started to make hot chocolate for Melburnians in 2012 using the same approach to quality and traceability as good coffee-makers.

The thing that makes Mörk hot chocolate so special is that they use 100 percent unsweetened chocolate, coconut blossom sugar, and Cacao powder.

There are two venues for this hot chocolate shop in the city, and happily both serve up delicious cakes and cinnamon buns daily, just in case liquid chocolate is not enough to satisfy you! The Errol Street venue is housed in an old bakery building that dates back to the 1950s.

Grossi Florentino
cuisinesItalian, Australian

Grossi Florentino is a legend on the Melbourne food scene, and whilst they may not be the first venue that springs to mind when you’re in need of a chocolate hit, their menu is set out in such a way that you can select any dish from any course for 25 dollars.

Therefore, you can either tack their chocolate soufflé on to the end of a delectable three-course Italian-inspired dinner, or try your luck on a quiet night and pop in just for the dessert – if all you really need is that chocolate fix!

Europa Cake Shop
cuisinesCakes, Pastries

This continental cake shop on Acland Street has been around forever (well, since 1982 at least) and it is simply impossible to walk past the display in Europa’s window without being drawn inside. Those glistening strawberry tartlets…

Obviously, you would not be expected to choose just one cake from their selection of pastries, cheesecakes, kugelhopf, danishes, and macarons. So fill up a tray of divine chocolate goodies at Europa to take home – just try not to eat them all on the journey.

Other than traditional European cakes, you can score Polish chocolates and gluten-free, vegan hot chocolate here too. Yum.

Dish Cult recommends the gluten-free vegan hot chocolate.

Haigh’s Chocolates started in Adelaide in 1915. Today, we are eternally grateful that the Haigh’s family decided to bring their chocolatey goodness east in 1965.

Haigh’s is a serious chocoholic’s paradise. You can select hand-made milk and dark chocolates by the piece, or you can buy packaged chocolates with all of the classic fillings you could ever want – truffle, peppermint, toffee, fruit, nougat, nut – you name it, Haigh’s makes it.

And if you have a special someone in your life who also adores all things chocolate, they make some very delectable sweet novelties too.

Dish Cult recommends the $11 milk chocolate speckles.
