Manchester's must try cheeseboards
Cheese is adored by Brits, the French, the Dutch and people all across the world. Cheddar, Mozzarella, Gouda, Manchego, Comte, Brie and Feta are some of the world’s best and most well-known cheeses. There is such range and versatility in cheese that it becomes perfect for many different occasions. From using cheese slices in a sandwich and mozzarella on a wood-fired pizza, to having it with bread after a fantastic French-style meal, we eat cheese all the time. Sometimes because of the wide variety of cheeses available, we put it on a cheeseboard to share with others and to taste the different flavours. Cheeseboards can consist of a certain style of cheese or it can reflect the many different nationalities and cultures. Cheeseboards are just a great starter, after meal snack or a key part of any buffet. As you may expect, the competition for best cheeseboard in Manchester is large and vast. We have created a small list for you of just some of the great places to get some of the best cheeseboards in the great northern city.

From flatbreads to whipped goats curd to pate, they have some amazing food to go with your wine and cocktails. But it’s definitely cheeseboard that we love the most. Located near The Arndale and Printworks in the Harvey Nichols superstore is a deli bar. You may not think it, but their cheeseboard and sharing boards are truly delicious. From Roquefort to Brie, they serve truly fantastic and world-famous cheeses. Served with olives, fruit jelly, crackers and sun-dried tomatoes, their cheese becomes even more flavoursome. The Cheese Hamlet, situated in the lovely area of Didsbury, is an English and continental cheese and wine shop. Not only are they specialists in cheese and wine, they also sell jams, meats and other superb deli foods. Now, they technically do not serve cheese boards as such, but their hampers are essentially high-quality, take-home cheeseboards and sharing boards! Their hampers range in price, meeting your budget and depending on what occasion the hamper is for. Some of our favourites include The Didsbury, served with five cheeses, chutney and crackers, and The Decadent that comes with three cheeses, chocolate and gin. But if you’re only after cheese then The Cheese Fest, which has six different cheeses and two varieties of crackers, is the hamper for you. From goat’s, fruity, vegetarian, blue, soft and raw milk cheese, they provide all the different kinds you could wish for.

This gorgeous and friendly neighbourhood Sicilian establishment makes absolutely amazing street food, such as their Mr Mount Etna and very delicious pasta and gnocchi dishes. The Antipasti Tagliere Sunshine prepared by the chef includes three each of their best cheeses and hams with olives and a Sicilian basket full of bread. We also recommend after having this platter and a main course to try their sweet plates. For example, their setteveli is just amazing, whether it’s with pistachio or chocolate. This cosy and relaxed Sicilian eatery is one of the finest places to eat cheese not just in the Northern Quarter, but in the whole of Manchester.
