You'd think the Gold Coast is brimming with amazing seafood, and you’d be right!
Whether you want octopus, prawns, mussels or fish (barramundi anyone?), the Gold Coast is a great place to indulge. Check out five of our favourite places to find the best quality seafood on the Gold Coast.
At Japanese fine diner Kiyomi the chefs make a point of serving up superior seafood. The restaurant has won many awards and for good reason – the way it handles fish and seafood is second to none.
Start with a selection of oysters and seared scampi with foie gras and apple from the extensive sashimi menu, or splash out on caviar and Southern Tasmanian rock lobster. Sushi lovers can choose from over ten a la carte options, while the indecisive can choose the set menu, with accompanying sake if you’re feeling it.
Kiyomi was also featured in our Hitlist for Japanese restaurants on the Gold Coast.

Seafood is the focus at Moana Restaurant and Bar in Surfers Paradise. Walk in the door and you’ll be greeted by natural lighting, white tablecloths and colourful seafood dishes.
Moana specialises in Pacific cuisine, and you’ll enjoy tasty dishes like Ota Ika Tongan, which is snapper fillets marinated in lime and coconut cream. New Zealand and Australian-inspired dishes also make the menu, with Tasmanian salmon, New Zealand sole and Australian barramundi some of the highlights. There’s also an excellent and extensive wine list to make your way through.
Dish Cult’s top pick: Seafood chowder ($16.50)
Waterfront dining? Tick! Award-winning menu? Tick! Iconic seafood restaurant? Tick, tick and tick! You can have it all at Omeros Bros on Marina Mirage’s boardwalk at Main Beach.
Expect casual dining with an emphasis on the freshest and best seafood Australia has to offer. Choices include oysters, ocean fish, crustaceans, crabs and Moreton Bay bugs but if fish isn’t your thing, there are also lots of pasta and steak options. So something for everyone!
Dish Cult’s top pick: Northern Territory barramundi ($48)
Not far from Omeros is Gods of the Sea where the emphasis is on sustainability, lessoning environmental impact and serving 100% Australian produce.
Chef Jon Nurminen, who hails from Finland, developed his love of Australian seafood when he was head chef at now-closed The Fish House in Burleigh Heads. At Gods of the Sea he has doubled down on his commitment to local producers, growers and fishermen by only working with what is produced in Australia and seasonal.
On the modern Australian menu with a Scandinavian sensibility expect to find grilled swordfish from Mooloolaba, kingfish crudo from Macquarie Harbour in Tassie and fish schnitzel from Port Lincoln in South Australia.
Dish Cult’s top pick: Grilled king with fermented chilli, coriander, lime prawns ($29)
Combine the best of both worlds at Glass Dining & Lounge Bar. Party away at the bar, then enjoy fine dining and views over the Marina Mirage. Perfection? We think so.
Start with scallop ceviche, progress to a plate of buttermilk calamari, move onto the seafood linguine and, if you’re in the mood to indulge, go with the decadent seafood platter. It’s laden with oysters done in three different ways, grilled fish, king prawns, calamari, scallops, Moreton Bay bugs, half a lobster, mussels, battered red emperor and chips (for some carb action)!
Glass is perfect for special occasions, and there is a dedicated vegan menu as well as lots of gluten free choices and a kids menu, so there’s something for everyone.
